Kingsman: The Secret Service opens up in theaters Friday, and it might very well be the best movie to come out so far this year. It’s funny, action-packed, and Samuel L. Jackson‘s character is based on GlobalGrind’s founder Russell Simmons. The film tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program, just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

As Valentine, a Biotech lunatic on a quest for world domination, Sam captures Russell’s boss-like demeanor with the stare to let you know he means business.

Samuel didn’t contact Russell Simmons before deciding he would channel his inner Def Jam creator before taking on the role of the villain Valentine in Kingsman, but he did one hell of a job making this bad guy amazing.

Of the role, Samuel says: “I didn’t know what I wanted to do, when I was sitting there reading, but I knew what I wanted to do once I put the clothes on, I was like this is what I have to do.”

He continued, “I don’t know if Russell is going to be happy to be a Bond villain, but he should be.”

Turns out, Russell doesn’t mind at all. He posted on Instagram: “Flattered that a Marvel comic book bad guy (activist) would channel ME.”

He is a little self-conscious about his lisp, though: “I still can’t get over the huge lisp Sam Jackson put on the character.”

Russell goes on to say, “Comedians been making fun of me for years for that lisp. I thought I lost it.”

Then he showed Samuel L. Jackson he’s not the only one who can crack jokes…

“Den dis nig… got me over sensitive and I’m speaking with it again lol.” That’s Russell typing with a lisp.
