Before Taraji P. Henson snagged the role of Cookie on Empire, she apparently auditioned for another important lead role.

In an interview with Angie Martinez, Ms. Henson recalls the time she went to read for the role of Olivia Pope on Scandalstating:

“When I went in to read for Shonda Rhimes, in my mind I was like, ‘This is Kerry Washington. Why am I even in here?’…It was hers. It was her job, and she’s great in it.”

She also opens up about the racy, unscripted scene in which Cookie showed the world her assets:

“The Cookie in me had to get [Anika] back. Remember that one episode she went upstairs and made sure she changed and came down in her lingerie?…I had to show her what a butt looks like. Literally when I did it, the whole cast and crew was like [GASP]…I didn’t even think about how my butt would look like on television…and it worked. Thank god it looked good,” Henson said.

Thankfully, the world is big enough that we can have both Cookie and Olivia Pope being fierce and fearless respectively.

Looks like Kanye West will not be partaking in Jimmy Kimmel’s “Mean Tweets” segment after all.

Nori‘s dad was slated to appear on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show in Austin tonight, but as it turns out, he cancelled the appearance. According to Gossip Cop:

Kimmel told his Wednesday, “Willie Nelson will be here in studio with us. Kanye West was supposed to be here too, but he cancelled – or maybe he’s planning to jump on stage unexpectedly to interrupt Willie.” Kimmel added, “So if you do not like Kanye West, make sure to tune in Friday night to not see him.”

A rep for Kanye spoke on behalf of the rapper. Gossip Cop continues:

A rep for West says he was “never confirmed” to appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and “we took extraordinary steps and worked directly with the show to make it happen.” The rep added the “logistics were insurmountable.”

We’re all friends here.

It seems like Nick Cannon is making the effort to remain cordial with Mariah Carey.

During his appearance on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, Nick agreed to participate in a game of “Plead the Fifth” and naturally, the Mariah questions came flying. The America’s Got Talent host was asked about his honest opinion of Mariah’s flop movie Glitter and he answered:

“Awesome movie! Honest opinion, great movie, even better soundtrack,” he said. “We have watched that movie together…I loved it so much before I got married, and she actually doesn’t like it…but I actually really love it.”

He also kept it cool when asked about the Mimi Tokyo concert in which she sung about a cheating motherf*cker, stating:

“But weren’t [those] the lyrics already?” asked Nick. “She just added the ‘mother f’er’ to it…Was I the motherf’er? I have—no! I don’t believe that was about me.”

All the Mariah questions aside, Nick, who has since moved on from his marriage and is reportedly dating Jessica White, was more concerned about the fact that Andy may have stolen the name of the game from him.
