Despite being one of the funniest rappers in the game, nobody’s laughing at Vince Staples right now. The Long Beach native became a topic of discussion when he revealed that he doesn’t like the ’90s era.

The ’90s were great, right? If you’re a normal human being who can actually remember the pivotal decade, you’d say yes, but if you’re a new rapper who was born in 1993, you may say no.

In an interview with TIME, Vince discussed his confusion regarding “The Golden Era.” “The ’90s get a lot of credit—I don’t really know why,” he states.

“Whatever you were watching or listening to when you were young is always going to be your favorite thing because it made you what you are today. That’s always going to be something that you appreciate the most, so that’s everyone’s favorite era,” he told TIME.

Well, at least he’s honest.

Let us know what you think about Vince’s comments below.
