#BlackGirlMagic shined big and bright in New York City Monday night during Glamour’s Women of the Year awards, which honored women from the realms of sports, science, entertainment, and beyond.

Among the honorees were Misty Copeland, Caitlyn Jenner, the U.S. women’s soccer team, family members and survivors of the Charleston Massacre, Reese Witherspoon, Victoria Beckham, Elizabeth Holmes, and Cecile Richards.

Each honoree filmed a short documentary with a female director, The Huffington Post reports.

Celebrated actress Lupita Nyong’o presented the award to Misty Copeland. Thanking her family, the prima ballerina and Broadway star acknowledged those who paved the way.

Each honoree spoke about the hardships women have overcome, but the most touching tribute of the night was the speech from family members of the Charleston massacre victims. Nadine Collier, Felicia Sanders, Polly Sheppard, Bethane Middleton-Brown, and Alana Simpson opened up about the June 17 tragedy, in which nine people were shot and killed. Sanders and Sheppard are survivors of the shooting, while Collier, Simpson, Brown, and Simpson spoke about forgiving suspected gunman Dylann Roof for his actions.

This message of forgiveness was captured in a documentary by Marta Cunningham.

The ladies received a standing ovation and a fitting musical tribute from Jennifer Hudson.
