Viewers couldn’t get enough of Grease: Live on Sunday, but it was Vanessa Hudgens‘ courageous performance that everyone was talking about.

The actress took to Twitter just before her performance to share that her father, Greg, had passed away after losing his battle with cancer less than 24 hours before she was set to hit the stage.

Fans and friends alike sent an outpouring of love to the star before her big appearance. Needless to say, Ms. Hudgens did not disappoint. Her co-star Mario Lopez tweeted, “Imagine if you had a day like @VanessaHudgens & performed like that. Wow.What a strong woman. My new hero#GreaseLive.”

Kung Fu Panda 3 dominated the box office over the weekend, coming in at number one with an estimated $41 million, and becoming the largest January animated opening of all-time.

The Revenant dropped to number two, bringing in an estimated $12.4 million, while Star Wars came in third with $10.7 million.
