Drake‘s been part of the Jordan Family since late 2013, but it wasn’t until his Super Bowl 50 commercial that we learned where his love for the brand came from. Drizzy reveals his first pair was the “Carolina Blue” Air Jordan 15, gifted to him by his father. The Jordan 15 is often regarded as one of the most hated sneakers in Jordan’s line-up due to the radical design inspired by two 1950s-era NASA Aircrafts. Beyonce and Bruno Mars may have stolen the Super Bowl halftime show with their amazing performances, but sneakerheads were glued to what Coldplay’s Chris Martin was rocking on his feet. As it turns out, he donned a colorful pair of Air Jordan Spizikes, likely a NIKEiD creation. His bright choice of footwear fit well with the entire theme during Coldplay’s set, which featured stunningly colorful graphics on the performance stage. The Air Jordan Spizike was originally designed to show appreciation to Mars Blackmon; the character in the old Jordan commercials played by Spike Lee. In honor of Spike, there’s also a “Do The Right Thing” colorway. Rather then create an entirely new silhouette, the commemorative model is a mix of the Jordan 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9. Read More

As sneakers become more limited, sneaker violence becomes more widespread. Back in December of 2012, 22-year-old Joshua Woods was killed over the Air Jordan 11 “Bred.” And last week, Neal Bland, one of the men responsible, was convicted of capital murder. He will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole. According to police, Bland and several friends followed Woods home after he bought the sneakers, and gunned him down during the robbery. This is just the latest incident that may have Nike and Jordan rethinking their release methods. Read More
