All that #BlackGirlMagic.

Eclipsed is making history as the first play to be written, directed, produced by, and starring Black women. Now, its stunning leading ladies, all of African descent, cover Uptown Magazine.

In the powerful shot, Lupita Nyong’o, her fellow co-stars Pascale Armand, Zainab Jah, Saycon Sengbloh, Akosua Busia, and the play’s director, Danai Gurira, resemble goddesses as they pose in lavish gowns, each with a different shade of bold lip.

Eclipsed chronicles the story of five women in Liberia brought together by the country’s second civil war. Lupita shared her excitement about being part of the production, saying:

“I’m very proud to be part of a milestone of a production that is all female…and to be a part of a production like none other that has been on Broadway and is also changing the narrative of what is possible on Broadway.”
