Glamour magazine released a plus-sized issue and while that sounds all good, it’s landed them in hot water with Amy Schumer.
The plus-sized issue included Amy’s name as “one of the women that inspire us,” along with Adele and Ashley Graham. Glamour did not inform Amy ahead of time of her inclusion in the issue, and the actress was none-too-pleased with being labeled “plus-sized.”
Amy took to Instagram to voice her piece on the issue, writing: “@glamourmag put me on their plus size only issue without asking or letting me know and it doesn’t feel right to me. Young girls seeing my body type thinking that is plus size?”
She followed her post with a video of herself running on the beach in a bikini, captioned: “Bottom line seems to be that these labels are unnecessary and reserved for women #muchlove.”
Glamour’s editor-in-chief responded to Amy on Twitter, insisting their goal was not to offend.
Still, it’s easy to see where the confusion came from. One thing’s for sure, there’s nothing wrong with being plus-sized.
