Sevyn Streeter‘s peaceful protest was blocked by the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night. Just before she was supposed to sing the National Anthem, the “Won’t Stop” singer tweeted a video saying she was told by team management she would not be allowed to perform while wearing her “We Matter” jersey.

Sevyn reportedly refused to change into multiple alternate outfits provided by the team.

Sevyn is not the first anthem singer to protest the current mistreatment of Black Americans. Miami Heat anthem singer Denasia Lawrence took a knee while singing last week. Commenters on social media didn’t hesitate to weigh in on the controversy.
