Aside from being dubbed “The Godfather of Hip-Hop,” Russell Simmons is also well known for his philanthropic involvements.
Our boss is currently overseas in China where he is at work raising money for his Diamond Empowerment Fund, a philanthropy dedicated to supporting higher education for children in Africa.
Thankfully for Twitter, it’s easy to keep an eye on him and all the amazing things he’s doing during his trip. Of course we’re following his every move while on foreign soil.

He left on Thursday tweeting, “Off to hong kong to collect 1million for D.E.F diamond empowerment fund higher education for African children,” later tweeting, “Intention is that I’m Bringing home 1million for African Education. D.E.F diamond empowerment fund. Thanx to American Airlines for flying us home and supporting D.E.F”
We wish him the best during his trip to China and hope he reaches his $1M goal!
