It’s always fun to go to a celebrity party and do it up real big, get suited, show off your two-step motion and all, but it’s a whole ‘nother issue when you get on a plane to go party. My good people, that’s just what I did for LeBron “King” James’ 25th birthday celebration on December 30th and wow, was it worth all the craziness I went through in the experience.

With it being the eve of New Year’s Eve, I knew I was pushing my luck to return back to NY in enough time to bring in 2010 with my fam, but it was Bron’s 25th, I knew he was gonna pull out all the stops for this one.

After landing in snow covered Cleveland late in the evening (shout to @myfabolouslife who was on my flight), I didn’t get a chance to head to the Cavaliers vs. Hawks game. I had to get my gear game in order. The dress code was all black in honor of the theme, which was celebrating the king turning into “The Dark Knight”. Before I got sharper than a tack, I thought it would be cool to check out the eat spots, get a drink, then get fresh. The locals pointed me to this low key sports bar, Cleats, right across from Bron’s huge “We Are All Witnesses” billboard, near The Q arena where he plays. The atmosphere was real laid back and the buffalo chicken sandwich and waffle fries were the best I’ve had in forever! Stop over at Cleats for some good grub when you are in Cleveland people.

Back at my not so dope hotel (I had to have 3 room changes! Ugh! I’ll never skip on going to The Ritz again!!), I rocked Reflection Eternal’s “Just Begun” track on repeat and got my “GQ Day” look on.

Most of my fellow colleagues were just getting back from the game and went to change up for the big event, so I waited a bit to be fashionably late and rolled to the venue at 11:45pm. While walking into the spot, the headlining DJ, Harlem’s own DJ S&S and I witnessed how one lil’ white dude dressed in beat up kicks, Nike shorts, and a gray hoodie just straight disrespected the security guards while trying to get in the party. Clearly drunk, young dude was calling them rental cops and saying, “Go get some real Cops, A-Hole!” They put hands on him, but nowhere near what he should have got!

Once inside the event, I realized that the team that decorated the venue went all out! The dark theme was strictly adhered to. Chessboard designs were through out the spacious club, all the way up to the light fixtures to the antique frames holding pics of Bron’s GQ Magazine shoot from earlier this year. Everyone in attendance came correct with the dress code. This crowd was so fly; it would give any of the major award show attendees a run for their swagger. It was refreshing to see this youthful crowd all snazzy and dazzy. Some of the dudes most definitely never rocked suits before though and some of the women just tugging and pulling at various areas of their dresses weren’t comfortable either. But whatever was bothering them earlier, surely wasn’t an issue after a few drinks and their favorite songs were spinning. We are talking about everything from Gucci Mane to Dorrough to Trey Songz, everybody knew every word!
