Pochoirs is a poster series designed by French designer Murmure. These posters were created entirely through the use of a hole punch which was inspired by the art form of stenciling. The end result creates an unique portrait that can be hung up against any wall, even one painted white, and showcase the portraits through the shadows cast. This innovative take on stenciling is just beginning to quietly bubble up around France and various other places over seas so it will only be a matter of time before we start seeing these types of posters pop up around the United States.

From the designer: 'The resulting posters have two uses. The first series of images is destined to indoors exposure: slightly stalled from the white walls of a showroom where the cut-outs stand out in a very fine shadow that reveals subtle grey masses and drawn patterns. The second series of posters (with the same designs as for the indoor series) is intended for city display to highlight the appearance of the walls, on which they are positioned. The stencils, by their abstract appearance, at first sight, provoke curiosity. Their subtlety requires special attention and understanding of the pattern designed by the accumulation of holes of different sizes requires a very precise positioning of the viewer.'
