The Daily Grind Video
CLOSE

You’ll notice the music video for Cee-lo‘s ‘Fuck You’ sitting below these staunch black paragraphs which might not make any sense considering the elegantly urban illustration floating above this text.

The extension chord between these two objects is being powered by the illustrious artistry of Serge Gay Jr. The mainstream audience lacks an awareness to Serge’s fascinating dreamscape depictions of urbanites (GlobalGrind is giving you a heads up on your brethren). On the other hand, the YouTube masses are aware of what happens when his deviant art is animated into colorful and sometimes creepy motion.

He’s done the background and art illustrations for:

Anthony Green – Dear Child, I’ve Been Dying To Reach You

Street Sweeper Social Club – 100 Little Curses

Fall Out Boy – America’s Suitehearts

Train – Hey, Soul Sister

New Found Glory – Truck Stop Blues

Snoop Dogg & Western Union – Hat 2 The Bacc

Serge is a third generation Haitian artist who immigrated to the United States, initially settling in Queens, New York before moving to Miami, which has become quite the hot spot for artists.

Serge attended the New World School of the Arts, one of the top high schools for art in America, followed by The College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, another creative school that leads in education. He’s been freelancing as a fine artist, illustrator and graphic designer in San Francisco, California ever since.

Stay tuned for our conversation with Serge Gay Jr. on Tuesday to find out more about the man and his creative process.
