Okay, so I've been keeping up with all the gossip and craziness surrounding the 50 vs. Rick Ross beef and I must say I'm very amused! This is what hip-hop needs! A lil entertainment.

Who do I side with? Well even though I'm from Florida and would normally back the 305, I gotta go with 50 on this one.

As a classic movie once said, "u ain't gotta lie to kick it craig". Same quote applies to Rick Ross. He messed up when he lied about being a correctional officer. What was the big deal?? A lot of those guys are crooked anyways. All he had to do was say "yeah I was gettin that paper and?" and people would have left him alone. For example, when Diddy got exposed for not owning his own private jet, he owned up to it and said he owned a wing of the jet. We all laughed and moved on. Trust me, the truth will set you free!

So then we get to the Rick Ross song where he said a lil something about 50 & his babymomma situation. Unnecessary shot! Of all people to talk about, 50 would probably be on of the last I would say something about! Did Rick Ross really think he wasn't gonna do anything? Come on now... this is the guy who caused damage to the careers of Ja Rule, Young Buck, Cam'ron, Fat Joe, etc. Even The Game is siding with 50 on this one.

Anyways, not only does 50 respond with his own diss record, but he releases a cartoon, a video saying he will end Rick Ross's career and even takes Rick's baby mama shopping! Hi-la-rious! Oh and he just launched officerricky.com and called up to a Miami radio station to diss Ross! I must say 50 is the king of marketing. This is a helluva publicity stunt. So what does Rick Ross do? Nothing really.... WTF? Here is your opportunity to have a lil fun and get back at 50 and you just chill?

So what now? Will this translate into album sales for 50? Don't know, but what I do know is that he's like Kobe Bryant. Some people love him and others hate him but all have to give him props for what he does. I think so long as this stays on records and the internet and doesn't go into the streets on some foolishness then its great for the game. Definately entertaining and isn't this called the "entertainment business"?

Keep doing whatcha do 50.... I'm waiting on the next cartoon...... lol!

Hey Brandi (Manny Faces here by the way, hope all is well with you!) -

The way I have been thinking of this whole 50/Ross thing, ties into something you said. "Entertainment" business.

The problem to me is, I kinda thought this was supposed to be the "music" business, and even before that, just hip-hop. Oh I love a good rap battle, but that's my point.

Where's the rapping?

I see videos, YouTube, websites, blog posts, baby mamas, fur coats, wig-wearing.. I mean, it's all highly entertaining, and I also MUST give 50 his props on creativity, shock value, and promotion ability.

But isn't all this supposed to boil down to who is the best rapper? Is hip-hop beef about hip-hop anymore? Or is it nowadays just who can virally spread their message of ridicule through the internet faster.. Or who owns, or doesn't own, a Lambourghini...

Chuck D once said hip-hop was "CNN for black people".

These days, it's more like WWE.

- Very well said! You are absolutely right... I guess I'm more into WWE than CNN... Lol! Lemme stop... nah but seriously you make a good point. The question is, "How do we get the focus back on the music, content and actual rapping skills?" Open to suggestions over here! :)

You are delusional to give 50 cent as much credit as you did.
Camron and Ja Rule fell off because their stuff was not good.
Fat Joe sells as much as he ever has, he was never a huge numbers guy.
Buck fell off, but so did Yayo, and Banks and 50 does not sell like he used to either.
Neither Ross or 50 are up to the level of Jay Z, Jeezy or TI anyway.
The Game has the potential to be the best rapper ever, but he can't get his mind right.

This isn't entertainment. It's stupidity. I don't give 50 cent props for what? Hustling? He's ignorant and a disgrace to my people.

You've got a good point. Rappers are entertainers just like wrestlers are sports entertainers.

The only problem is rappers really try to make us believe its 100% real.

It's not a coincidence that both 50 and Rick Ross have albums coming out very soon. Unfortunately, since the quality of their music isn't driving records sales, we're stuck with a "reality TV" type of feud.

But to your point...it is kinda' funny how 50 is killing this dude in the media. Tupac once said..."don't go to war unless you got your money right".

Against normal competition, Ross would have more than enough money to wage a war. Yet he's being dominated by the richer, more powerful, and more creative 50 Cent despite the fact Ross initiated this beef.

My only concern is for the people who really live by the street code and believe that when you disrespect a city's public figure you disrespect their entire community.

For example, I've heard of deadly prison fights starting because one person disrespected another city's NBA team and therefore the entire population of inmates from that city waged war and ultimately killed an inmate.

We know Ross and 50 won't touch each other, but its always the followers who end up getting hurt. I can see it now on the front page of Global Grind...ART IMITATES LIFE AS RAPPER'S FUED LEADS TO GUNFIRE.

Anyway...Brandi thanks for opening the door to this subject. And hopefully this beef doesn't spill into the streets but history doesn't support that theory.
