It seems that women (especially White women) who love to drop their panties and misbehave are being rewarded, adored and praised a lot these days—especially on this site.

From the queen of hanging out hoo-ha, Britney Spears, to the new GG celebrity bloggers Aubrey O’Day and Governor Spitzer's former call girl Ashley Dupré to Kim Kardashian and the current fascination with Kanye’s girlfriend, Amber Rose.  Yes indeed! Mis-behaving, raunchy vixens are getting ALL of the love....

One question, WHY?
One plausible answer: We are a lazy, sex and sleaze-obsessed mass of people who love to get the naughty fill of debauchery as much as possible.
It’s addictive!  We are addicted!

I admit that I think there is something really entertaining and interesting about women who knowingly do things that go against the “smart and safe” choice that society tells us we should cling to. I like it when women misbehave and I like it when all misfits are doing their thing.

But lets be real-- Appreciating the bucking of authority is one thing, but the celebrity sleaze being dolled out consistently isn’t even purposeful or intelligent these days.  This isn’t a case of Madonna’s naked boldness telling women to “Express Yourself”   Nope…. It really DOES seem that if you are a female with a hoo-ha hanging out, if you are grasping your tits or sticking your butt directly into a camera, ANY camera, even if you have zero talent, no real job or discernable social contribution, well who cares… cause you’ve made it!
People (us, me, you, we) are clambering to witness you making a spectacle of yourself!!

In our twisted culture “Hoo-ha hanging out” girls are stars, while the “non-Hoo-ha hanging out” girls are bores.

To twist the knife on the good girls even more, once the “Hoo-ha hanging out” women are given all of this attention they are suddenly given a platform from which to "speak" and everyone is shocked and delighted to find that they can stitch words together into these incredible things called “sentences".  They are then celebrated even more.

Good Girls are sitiing there with their jaws to the floor like "What the hell?!?!"

It’s all very exciting for the Bad Girls and all very unfair to the Good Girls.

In the interest of keeping it totally real, I want to take a minute to bow down to the ladies out there who keep their clothes on, who usually remember the last name of dudes they have sex with, who rock underwear that covers their genitals when wearing a skirt, who don’t go to rehab or get tattoos or generally Amy Winehouse style “go there”.  I have ignored you and the culture has ignored you.  As I gazed over the headlines on GG this morning and looked around at the content it suddenly dawned on me that I don’t want you to feel ignored today.

Wherever you are, I want to tell you some things I like about you:

I like it that you will work hard and go to a great college.

I like it that you will find a fullfilling career and use your mind and talents.

I like it that you will get married and bring thoughtful and beautiful children into the world.

I like it that you and your works will contribute to the upliftment of society.

Please don’t stop doing that or knowing that its important, VERY VERY important that you keep it classy.  Sure you drop it like its hot, but you do it in your bedroom for yourself and your man.   I want you to know that you DO exist even if a camera isn’t there.

You are the real deal, and today I hope some other people join in with me and call that what it is: Smoking HOT!

  • Sex sells and Hoe's sell sex.
All the wemon you mentioned have no talent at all.
Without their sexual content, they would be flipping burgers at BKing.
But what makes this news??!! I don't want to hate, but your talent is no where to be found either.
Could you show us your a** so we could judge your other talent LOL (that was just a joke)
  • SO FUNNY THAT YOU SAY!! I WAS JUST ON AUBREY'S SPOT LIKE..WHAT THE HELL IS SHE DOING and WHY? MAYBE IT'S AN ESTEEM ISSUE. CLEARLY. BUT IF IT ISN'T WHO TOLD HER BEING WHORESQUE WAS THE WAY TO GO IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY. NOT JUDGING JUST SAYING---STOP MAMA! DON'T THINK BOUT WHERE YOU ARE, BUT WHERE YOUR GOING-

  • Thanks for the post... Imagine the effects this has on teengage girls. They watch VH1 reality shows, Bad Girls club and other shows that depict women in negative ways and it manifest in their daily lives. I am a teacher and I see this daily. We must teach these young girls and boys to analyze what they watch and listen to. Some only interested in plastic surgery, sex tapes, and baller boyfriends, to get them through life. I work in the hood and its frustrating when your trying to enlighten the minds of young women and future mothers but you experience the resistance from the media that is a complete contradiction of whats good and righteous in them and in the world.
  • You keeping it real. Classy women should be admired
  • I agree I hate this ho shyt that's taking over,
  • Katie loved this...it's been a conversation between me and my girls for years.

The GOOD GIRL sh*t played out on me and I turned in my card. I do what I want when I want. I realized that I did the GOOD GIRL thing because I thought that if I played by the "rules", then I'd find me a good man, family and have someone sport me off to different countries.

The rules changed somewhere between 90 and 09. It used to be noone wants to marry the GOOD TIME GIRL. Now it's the GOOD TIME GIRL will get married waaaay before you, so start making a GOOD TIME.

  • Sorry Katie, I forgot to leave the Patent Number. The Patent #5676977.

    Thanks Peace!
  • What's Good Katie?

Please write a blog entry regarding the The Cure For AIDS! The United States Patent Office has issued a Patent for The Cure on Oct.4 1997. This is legit. go to "uspto.gov" and do a quick patent search for yourself you will find that indeed a patent has been issued for a cure. I know you have Russell on speed dial so hit him up and spread the word.

    Peace out!
  • Katie your on point..!
  • I find it incredible, given the huge response from people who are interested in this thought process that my blog has been taken down as a headline after only being given prominence for a few hours while the one that so many of us were fed up with still is in the top spot.
I am disheartened, disappointed, disgusted and down right feeling dissed by Global Grind.... I guess my voice isn't valued anymore.
    Grind on that!
    • Hip hop is supposed to be relevant to the culture, to men and to women. The women of hip hop should clue into this point. There seems to be an unwritten code that what is relevant isn't what black women or women of substance to hip hop want but what we should be crammed down our throat-- literally. What the f*ck? what is up with that? Russell you are the quote " editor in chief of this blog" what is global grind about? Is it suppose to uplift or is it supposed to put down women?
    • Don't be disheartened. I don't think it's so much a GG thing, as it is a GG user statistic thing. For example, her last blog has 30 grinds, you have 18. It also has about 4200 views, you have about 1090. If you are really writing from your heart, your message will reach its intended audience. So stop waiting on other outlets to let you know you're great. You are great all by youself, and I'll keep grinding on that for you. Smile.
    • no "Elene" my blog has gotten a ton of attention and lots of interest in the few hours it was up, Aubrey's has been up for almost two days and had a headline the whole time. I was not taken down by "GG users", it was taken down by Blackspot or Russell... which is interesting....
    • I wasn't saying your headline was removed by GG users; I was simply suggesting that whoever the moderators are develop their headlines spots based on user statistics(which is how it works on most social sites-myspace, facebook, etc): # of viewers in an alloted time, #of comments, etc.. I wasn't trying to offend you. I actually think you're really bright and have a good message to convey. Which is why I said "You're great all by yourself". If you're doing it just for the recognition or to try to compete with her, ok. I just thought it was to be different from her and motivate women in general.
    • I am OF COURSE trying to compete in the marketplace of ideas. I made that clear in the premise of my blog. I'm trying to compete with the tone thats been laid out by the moderator, the editor and by the people who provide content. I have no desire to just exist without an audience who has access to by point of view. "Elene" (who just signed up to GG today and has pretty much only responded to my blog but seems to have all sorts of understanding about how the moderating of blogs goes) I don't think that voices that challenge the powers that drive content should be silenced. Thanks for reminding me not to be disheartened....
I am hip-hop and hip hop is not all pornography and I appreciate all of the people who had the opportunity to share their frustration for even a little while....
    • ""Elene" just signed up on Global Grind today" and you said that to say what exactly? I also moderate the "Black Girls Rule" blog, blog consistently on Essence, MTV, and Black Enterprise, and even contribute to the Access Atlanta lifestyle section (and get paid for it). So, yes, I have some sort of understanding of how blog and news moderating works; 10 years worth to be exact. You are by no means being silenced. When you log onto GG, your blog is profiled. Under the lifestyle icon, it is as well. If you look to the left of the page, it is listed 3 times. But because someone like Aubrey O'day has a "headline" you are bitter and attacking me for simply offering a suggestion as to why!?! Get over yourself and for goodness sakes don't try to take your frustrations out on me. I was excited about your message. I agree with the message. I disagree with the insecurity and pettiness.
    • Katie,
Don't be too disheartened. Elene was right on some points. It was a custom decision to take your post down from the rotating flash headline (which is probably the most custom thing on the site, I should know I'm a web designer (full-time) ) But in that same note why would they decide that? There have been a ton of posts that they put up to GET attention and ultimately fail in getting attention. Curious as to why they took youre post down. Doesnt make any sense, if anything its hurting your posts statistics and really sending a bad note to the community. But they CAN'T take down the automated popular posts or recent comments so thats a good thing.
They might be only posting one popular post from each section and rotating them in and out once they see users visiting them more often without the flash graphic headline. Or prepping for the Morning Grind NL. They will probably put it up again. Lets keep an eye out. Don't trip.
    • GG users might be bored with her now. At least you actually pay attention to GG. Looks like Aubrey has yet to chime in. You actually paying attention is another good point why I come back to your posts. ;)
    • They have to make their money babe.. so I wouldn't sweat it. Those certain celebrity bloggers are what hook people to the site. Then they get here they browse arond and see a sister such as yourself. The sensationalism draws them. The substance keeps them. But in the end, it will all balance out.
    • Yes, I am back lol. After nulling it over a little bit last night, that and talking to a few of my friends about your post and Aubrey's post which are very different, I came to a very interesting conculsion. The problem here is that everything has a label. If you don't behave in a ranchy fashion you're a good girl or a prude and if you do behave raunchy you are a slut and fun to have around. I don't think it's a matter of judging someone. I don't know if it is society's fault or if it's because sex is being implied everywhere that we turn but people need to change the way they think.

Women have this new state of mind in recent times where they feel they can be openly sexual because they see men do it or because it's some sort of liberation and people interpret it as being "free" or being themselves and that troubles me. By the end of the day you have integrety and you have you're families who too have to walk around with you're reputation. If you are out there showboating showing your tits and cookies and expect to be respected because you call yourself being "free" then you are the fool.

An excuse I heard someone give for acting like a street whore once was that they were "young", in short I feel that is wack. I know how to have fun and be a freak but I make sure to keep that behind closed doors. I feel women have forgotten how sacred they are and how sacred their bodies are and being this supposed "free" is a detriment not for themselves but for other women as well. I truly do wish that one day sisterhood could be reinstilled and soon because to be quite blunt I'm getting a little tired of the sluts trolliping around calling themselves "freedom lovers".

      end of rant part 2*
  • from someone who has watched his share of porn there is a time and place for everything and plenty of porn sites lets not make gg one of them
  • I'm a good girl, but I am not sitting here like "What the Hell!?!". I prefer to allow people the freedom of "doing them" without having my feelings hurt about it. I think the day WE as individuals decide that there is one right and wrong, is the day we say goodbye to individuality. How I like to express myself is different from how maybe you like to express yourself. Or how Aubrey likes to express herself is different from how Ms. Bitchie likes to express herself, but that doesn't make it wrong. I am a good girl because I CHOOSE to be, all by myself. I don't need recognition for it and I don't need to be congratulated for it. I'm the sh*t to ME, and someone being rewarded for being THEM doesn't change that.
    • good point. I like Ms Bitchie better than Ms Aubrey though. And cause i can i prefer those that are right rather than those that are wrong. I am just saying you know\?
  • nice read!!! ha! try raising a daughter that can see all this...its her first year of college and even though i have raised her to be a lady there are times now that i still have to say "hey, to much skin!!"...i try to teach her that dressing sexy to go out doesn't mean you have to be trashy...but when young women constantly see this type of stuff they feel they have to stand out too!! so i do appreciate the time you took out to remember the GOOD GIRLS!!!
  • Katie I appreciate this blog!

I have to say one thing, as the owner of a black urban blog I have noticed that when I post pics of black celebrity women wildin out (say for example a pic of D woods in lingerie at a party swinging on a pole) she is dogged out but when I post a picture of say an Amber Rose doing the same, whether she's on the radio talking about eating p**SY or doing freaky things in photos with her friends, she's praised by more commenters than she is dogged out....or atleast she gets more "I love her" and I think the response would be totally different if she was a black woman. It's something that I have observed numerous times over the year and I don't quite understand it.
    • that was supposed to read

or atleast she gets more "I love her" type comments. major typo
    • Thats true. No one seems to pass judgement on em . Its more like they are just having fun. Crazy right? But let a sista do it and the whole race is outing her. I have never understood that.
    • Thats been my whole point in question about all of this Aubrey coverage going on!! When a white girl do it, it's as if it's expected so we take it as tounge-n-cheek!! But when it's a black woman like D-Woods who is in (ironically enough) the same exact place as Aubrey, people have the nerve to call D-Woods a hoe and even go futher and defend what the white girl is doing!!

Probably one of the craziest double standards I've noticed since I've been on this website!!
    • Honestly, the undercurrent of racism is a given. In this supposedly post racist world, one is almost made to feel petty for even bringing race into the equation. But it's undeniable. I logged on and saw the blog that Slitzer's ex call girl did on GG get play on MSN. They latch onto story's about their own simply because they sell. They interest the mainstream.

But generally, we truly have to start to seek the best in one another, and not the worst. I got what Russ was attempting to do by having her tell her story, especially being that he seems to believe that she truly is a woman who's seeking peace within herself. But at the same token, we can't lose fact of what the media feeds on, and that is sensationalism. There are no doubt countless black women who take the wrong path and seek redemption. Unfortunately, they don't have the priviledge of bumping into Russ at a yoga class, so they're stories don't get heard the same way. So it's up to us to expose them. Plain and simple.
    • I can see exactly where you're coming from!! But here is what i am trying to say. My problem is not the sensationalism part, we all know that is what get women exposure in a male dominated industry!! It's the use of sensationalism in order to try and promote a positive message. Most important, how white women can do it all day, but a black woman who take that route is dragged through the mud for it!!

Take the Kardashians for example, here we have a group of young women who's father was one of the defense attorneys for the OJ Simpson trial back in the 90's. But most people don't know them for that, only for the fact that Kim did a porno right?? Fast foward to now and now she is on the cover of magazines, have her own show, endorsements, the works!! All for what?? Her porno!!

Now put a black woman in her same position, do you really think she could gain that much fame and wealth from doing a home movie of her with her boyfriend?? Not to say that that is something fair for any woman, but lets keep it real! The message these women are trying to get by on is sex. So why are we expected to take them seriously on any other message besides that!!

Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, and a list of others like them could probably fill a room up for some charity event. But people who attend is not going because they love the philanthropists they have grown into, but because they remember them for their wild club antics and porn tape that were suppose to be "private" but somehow got out and rather than file some sort of lawsuit take their fat ass check and run!!

So all the sh*t Aubrey and the Spitzer chick is saying is not inspirational at all, it's good PR!! Which I'm not mad about, but call it what it is!!
  • and one more thing, I motion to have death proclaimed on the word "hater". I feel people use it whenever people speak the truth they refuse to hear when they need to hear it.

    end of rant*
    • See... I knew there was a sh*t-load of intelligent people on this site!! Hating is jealousy and I agree 100% on what you're saying!! No one is jealous when they are speaking the truth or against what the majority is saying!!

I think that word need to be retired!!
    • Good point love...

I used to love the term "hater". Thought it was an "us" word. To me it's relevance laid in those who opposed our way of life, or those who looked negatively at the black experience, or those who wished they had the drive that some of us had. They didn't, so they hated on those who did. But as I stepped outside of culture and looked at the term, I saw it morph into a word used to sweep any criticisms of the black community in general (valid or not) under the rug. And when I investigated the term further I realized that black people in general dislike ANY criticism of what we do. Take it back to slavery. We protect the percieved integrity of what we deem black, and will ostrasize anyone who offers a critical view point of it. Say OJ was guilty? HATER. Say Dr. King had extra-marital affairs? HATER. Call a pimp a mysogonist for exploiting women? HATER. Take any side against the mainstream opinion of what the media projects as blackness and you'll be labeled a hater, no doubt.

In the realm of the world, critical analysis of who we are and what we do is a necessary paradigm of change. And if any people on earth needs to constantly evaluate the state of who we are, it's us. I'm gonna continue to be on the cutting edge of criticism. And I do it for the love of my people. But if you want to label me a hater for it, go right ahead.
