The north lawn of the White House and parts of the U.S. Capitol were briefly evacuated Friday after the pilot of a single engine Cessna strayed into restricted air space. The plane later landed safely at a Washington, D.C.-area airport.
The Secret Service temporarily cleared the north lawn in front of the White House while the Senate went into a brief recess at the U.S. Capitol. Workers were also evacuated but all was over in a few minutes. (Reuters)
