Widely circulated photo of the former Cubs slugger makes his skin color appear several shades lighter.

"He's not trying to be Michael Jackson" said former Cubs employee Rebecca Polihronis, who talks frequently with Sosa.

Sosa was photographed recently during an appearance at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

"He is going through a rejuvenation process for his skin," Polihronis said. "Women have it all of the time. He was surprised he came out looking so white. I thought it was a body double. Part of (the photo appearance) is just the lighting.

  • Why does Sammy Sosa or anyone else have to compare to Michael Jackson? Why do people make it sound like MJ wanted to become white when clearly its been said by all of his doctors that he had vitiligo? and you could read right here what it says about vitiligo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitiligo so its a real problem.

    I know it must be shocking to some people but celebrities are real people and they could get sick, have a disease, disorder or anything else for that matter. We just need to stop putting them on such a pedestal that when something happens we mistaken it for something else. Our first priority is to make sure he is well and healthy before ever casting doubt or suspicion for something else. Its a sad world we live in when we can't understand the saying, "People in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones"

      Vitiligo is a skin condition in which there is loss of pigment

      (color) from areas of skin, resulting in irregular white patches that

      feel like normal skin. Michael Jackson was WHITE..this affects patches of skin...and why you so hurt behind what people say...you should expect it..

    First off Michael Jackson had Vitiligo! He had a skin disease. On the other hand, Sammy Sosa is looking a bit like HE IS TRYING TO BE LIGHTER...NO SKIN DISEASE REQUIRED.
