CELEBRITY blogger Perez Hilton calls her a "Z-list actress". But has Sophie Monk become Australia's very own Lindsay Lohan?

Both showed exceptional promise (and talent) at the start of their careers – Monk on the television show Popstars, which launched her girl group Bardot, and Lohan as a budding child actor and model.

These days, bimbo movie roles and tabloid snaps seem to mark the bulk of Monk's career – cue shots of Monk shopping at Napoleon Perdis' Paddington store in Sydney last week and regular paparazzi pics of the 29-year-old bursting out of skimpy bikinis in the Californian surf.

"There was a time when Sophie Monk had a dash of irony in her wardrobe, matching her blonde bombshell looks with sophisticated pieces from Lisa Ho. She even made it to the cover of Vogue Australia in 2004. But Los Angeles can do strange things to a girl. The skirts have got shorter, the hair blonder and the breasts look ready to spill forth at the merest prompting. It's sad that the irony has disappeared, along with most of the fabric in her wardrobe."

After splitting with fiance and Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden last year, the former Movie World Marilyn Monroe impersonator was linked to a series of men, including American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, Brit actor Jude Law and a notable LA-based plastic surgeon. Other areas of her life didn't fare quite as well.
