Guru: Gang Starr Rapper In Coma

MC Guru, of the popular old school hip-hop duo Gang Starr suffered a cardiac episode over the weekend. The 43-year-old rapper, whose real name is Keith Elam, is now in a coma.

According to New York radio station Hot 97's news director Miss Info, Guru is in a New York-area hospital and expected to undergo surgery March 1.

Guru's group-mate Christopher 'DJ Premier' Martin was set to appear on Sirius XM's Hip Hop Nation satellite radio station on Feb. 28 to speak about Guru's condition, but never called in.

The Massachusetts-born rapper released his most recent solo album 'Guru 8.0' in May of 2009.
