Serena Williams Drops Out Of US Open

Still recovering from cutting her foot last month on broken glass while at a restaurant, Serena Williams will not be participating in this years U.S. Open. In late July, Serena had to undergo surgery to receive stitches on her cut foot. As a result of the injury and the operation that followed, Serena Williams was not able to participate in the three tournaments held in Istanbul, Turkey; Cincinnati, OH; and Montreal, Canada that led up to the U.S. Open. 

At the 2009 U.S. Open, Serena Williams was fined a record $82,500 for tirade against a line judge over a foot-fault call.
