America’s long national nightmare is over. Carmelo Anthony has finally been traded to the New York Knicks.

We can now all get back to our lives.

I have to say I was pretty shocked at all the attention that has been paid to this particular trade. This trade seemed to go on longer than the Summer of LeBron last year.

During the final hour of this drama I was Tweeting like crazy (some of it was because of the trade and some of it was because I survived the Great Uber Outage of 2011 and finally got the new version of UberSocial on my BlackBerry). Looking back on those Tweets I realize they raised all the questions that needed answering regarding this “mega trade.”

These are my running Tweets (in bold) with commentary.

“If Melo could help a team win a championship the Lakers would have shipped out Bynum two months ago.” Everyone knows the Lakers are desperately trying to ThreePeat this year. Everyone except for the Lakers players, who are not playing with any sense of urgency at all. But that’s another story. For a couple of days there were heavy rumors going around that the Lakers were in the running for Melo and were thinking of trading Andrew Bynum to the Nuggets. If Carmelo was the missing piece to the Lakers championship dreams they would have spared no expense to get him. Here is an interesting stat for all of you Knick fans; The Denver Nuggets have won exactly two playoff series the whole time Melo has been there. Do you really think he is the missing piece to a Knicks Championship? Really?
