What's Your Problem With Amber?

I noticed that every time we post a story about Amber Rose, it gets lots of attention. People have very strong opinions…they either hate her or love her. Some people (the haters) get upset because we, the editors of Global Grind, can't find a lot of bad things to say about her. We leave that for sites that are less creative and less responsible.

Anyhow, when I closely examine the “Amber” phenomenon, I can't see what she's done to hurt the planet, the animals or the people. So sorry haters, I really can't really find fault with her. One thing good spiritual people should be good at is practicing "non judgment." So as long as Datwon (the COO of Global Grind) allows me to be involved and be Editorial Director of Global Grind, we are gonna try to stay positive. I’m gonna continue to see my team executing my view or if not, people here will get fired!!! But mostly they will be given another chance...but if it
don't work out... fired. Ok, back to the point. The best reason to practice disdain for something or someone is that it hurts your spirit. Maybe sometimes you don't want those actions that are performed by another to become your own? And the best way to do that is to point
fingers? I noticed that the greatest haters of gays are mostly frustrated gays themselves…or maybe in Amber’s case, the sexy girl in you wants to walk around your party in a swimsuit…but that's a fantasy because you are way too afraid to do that.

I believe that most people who become popular are just trying to make their way, and the constant negative pressure from the media tearing them down can sometimes destroy their self image, ruin their chances of becoming more successful or more importantly, destroy their chances of achieving lasting happiness. Here's a scenario seldom discussed. The pop culture that has 3 million people following Ashton Kutcher on twitter, but only 15 thousand following His Holiness, the Dali Lama could be subject to some judgment? But I guess as a good yogi, I should look past this and pray that we find the good in Ashton, Puff, Kim Kardashian, Amber Rose or any entertainer or celebrity that stole our focus and now has such a powerful affect on our society. We, the collective consciousness, choose Hulk Hogan, Lil Wayne, Paris Hilton, Jay-Z or Amber Rose to focus our attention on, so why does it make us feel so
good to tear them down?

Advice. Practice living a full life. Use your Bible, Koran, Torah, yoga sutras, Buddhist scripture as YOUR guide. Be the best you can be. Tearing other people down will not make you a better Christian, Muslim or Jew. But finding the good in them and protecting them and wishing them well, will!! Try not to pass out bad energy or judgment because the karmic affect is more devastating to your self-image and happiness than it is to theirs’.

PS. I’m not holier than anyone reading this…just pointing out some things that I noticed in me that may be operating in you.

-Russell

  • We love her, we hate her, Whatever. The real issue is Mr Simmons, who took the time out of his life to endorse and defend her. It's no in the closet secret, that Mr Simmons is attracted to women of that appeal. It's crystal clear and extremely obvious that Mr Russell has a school boy crush on Ms Rose, only if he had gotten to her first.
P.s I do love Amber and so do you Mr Simmons. But, it's disappointing on your end for coming on Global Grind, just for this, you should have had one of your people do a more intellectual write up on Ms Rose, cause what you have done, will not help her, you have opened the flood gates for her to be disliked much more. And you have also placed a terrible spot light on your self regarding this matter.
  • Wow!!! I have no problem with Ms. Rose because I don't know her...I have no idea what she does or doesn't stand for...I DON'T KNOW her...how do you know she doesn't have intellect and can't mentally challenge lifes complex situations? Do YOU know her? And why is walking around half naked a bad thing? Adam and Eve did it. I didn't read any where in the story that women should should aspire to be like her, I did see where he said we should find the good in every one. And how is Tyra or Kimora any different they too paraded around half naked. I too have a problem with people believing that because I don't agree or have an opinion about a celebrity or any one else that I'm a hater or a stan I'm neither just opinionated!lol And if you've never been to France then you wouldn't know that they are VERY uninhibited when it comes to the human body even children walk around naked on the beaches! GET OVER IT and Love your rolls!!!!
  • I think she is beautiful and she is different...its something about her that makes me wanna know more....
    • I LOVE AMBER ITS JUST SOMETHING ABOUT HER......YOU GO MS.AR;-)
  • I think she is hot. Do your thang girl. No matter what we do as individuals people are not going to like it. So I say this live your life as you see fit. As long as you are not hurting any one fuckem!
  • DAMN i love you. You and your brother are an inspiration to me and i hope to one day be as wise as both of you.

but anyway, I've just always wondered (until looking at these photos) if she was black or white. I had never really got a good look at her until now.
  • I don't understand why, when someone doesn't have a favorable opinion about another person, then they're being called haters. Such is the case with Amber Rose. Everyone doesn't HAVE TO like her and those that don't shouldn't be called haters. If that's the case, then it could be said that your motive behind defending her is questionable. It's ok not to like Amber no matter what the reason is. Ironically the reason for your defense of her may be the same reason that people so call "hate" on her--she's a half (or fully) naked female screwing her way to the top of the industry.
  • after reading this article and a few comments its clear that most people are just straight confused. i give kanye big props for having a women like that. even jay. but not because they have the money to attract those women but because they have the ambition and the drive to manifest success in their lives which affords those beautiful women. and i say afford not meaning you can purchase the woman off the shelf but afford in the context of security. might i also point out that many of these women are independent in their own right and have just as much as their men.

russell brought up a great point about non judgement and i feel that too many people continue to pass judgement. in one of my previous paintings i took a black canvas and in large white letters painted the words "UNITED WE STAND" i was asked one day when hanging it up for an exhibit what it meant. and i turned to the fellow and said "It means that we all have to unite, we need to put aside our differences and take control of the situation rather than letting it go to the wayside. if we dont we will all fall divided."

in retrospect, all of these "haters" are not educated. not educated in the manner of positive thinking and understanding of feelings and emotion. part of them says they can never have the money, the cars, the clothes, the women, and they believe it. rather than questioning that belief and striving for the very best in their life. instead of fighting through the struggle and stand up for what they believe in. they sit down on the bench and watch the stars play the game. just so you know i am not one of them. life is all about choice. how will your story be written?

    ----peace......
may your lives be blessed and abundant.
    namaste.

p.s. yo 'ye she have a sister?? lol.
  • The reality is that she has will make any man's prick hard as hell harder than granite, and yes she is with Kanya because he is rich....take away his money and fame and he would never even get to smell the dirt she walked on.....the same goes for Beyonce, do u really think she would be with JayZ who by the way I love as a rapper, but is ugly as hell, if he was not rich. In this world MONEY $$$$$$ talks..........$$$$$$$ is the BOTTOM LINE.....With my looks and JayZ pay check Beyonce would have been married to me at this point. Not hatting, just putting the reality out there.
  • I personally think Kanye’s mother would be so disappointed in his behavior as of lately showing up to the VMA’s turning up a bottle of Hennessey with a half naked white girl and showing a lack of respect for another’s accomplishments.

Russ, I wonder how you would feel, as a parent, if your lovely little daughters were to parade around as Amber does? Yes, she’s friggin hot. But, many other women who are just as beautiful, choose not to exploit their “assets” but rather tap into their other talents and qualities. At the end of the day the looks may get you in the door but your intellect and ability to mentally challenge life’s complex situations will keep you in the building.

As a mother of 3 physically beautiful young ladies myself, I constantly encourage them not to view their beauty as an accomplishment or some sort of victory. One truly becomes an asset to their self and others if they are educated and have something of substance to offer to a society on a whole. I encourage them to giver of their inner self in order to ignite infinite internal beauty. Time will fly and external beauty is transitory. I want my girls to understand the necessity of hard work and the power of being educated. They need to be multifaceted and able to conduct themselves in a number of life situations that will call upon their intelligence.

It ‘s important that my children don’t look to women that sexually exploit themselves as role models. I would rather they look up to women that exude intelligence, tact, grace, self respect, dignity, class and elegance.

You speak of the “powerful affect on our society” I believe with this “power” comes great responsibility.

No, she is not beating animals or whatever but she is putting on for the masses and her image may influence many and indirectly this may affect how some women and young ladies gauge their own self-image, value and worth. It shows poverty of discretion and is a distorted depiction of women’s true worth and significance.

  • Hey Amber, Kanye put your 3D glasses on cause Ernie Gaines is coming! Google him!
  • wait, so how do any of you know what Amber Rose is like as a person? you see all these photos of her and the way she dresses, and automatically think she's a certain type of girl. Your automatic thought is, "she's just with Kanye cuz he's rich" etc. Perhaps the only reason you think this way, is because you yourself would do the same thing? hmmm. isn't it possible that Kanye and Amber are actually, gee i dont know, IN LOVE? I think yall are just used to celebrities dating other celebrities. who said Amber has to be successful for Kanye to like her? How do you know Kanye didn't holla at her like any other dude would holla at a girl? Regardless if Kanye was rich or not, you don't think it's possible that Amber would've gave him her number?

Let's not judge this girl if we don't even know her. You can't judge someone off of photos.
  • Damn right she looks good! I want to BUTT f*ck HER !!!!! oNE !!

  • any publicity is good publicity....no one hates on a nobody
    • Way to have good english.
    • THANKS
    • ON MY WAY TO BEING A CELEBRITY ALREADY... HATER!
  • Interesting analysis, Russell. This term "hate" and the accusation that if someone does not fully agree with an image that one projects, IMO is nothing more than a defense mechanism I've noticed many celebs use to try to discount some very valid criticisms of some of their questionable behaviors.

If you walk around half-naked in the public eye, then what is one to think of you? I personally don't have much of an opinion of Amber Rose. She is what she is. But to suggest that women should aspire to be her is absurd. What does she possess that most women should aspire to?

If you're going to hold out any woman, that's a celebrity, that women should aspire to emulate, why not someone like Tyra Banks, Oprah Winfrey, or even your ex-wife Kimora? These women are businesswomen who have worked hard, made themselves and who are doing it big. Ex-strippers who hang off the arms of egotistical rappers are nothing particularly special, Russ.
