Exclusive Trey Songz On Kellz, Bitchie And More

Last week Trey Songz dropped one of the hottest R&B albums in a long time, selling around 115k his first week. Impressive numbers in a slumping market, coming second to only Whitney Houston. I had the chance to interview Trey about a bunch of topics, including R-Kelly, his alleged relationship with Necole Bitchie, his friendship with Drake and more.

In my last blog recapping his concert at Canal Room, where Drake introduced him as "The Greatest R&B Singer of Our Generation", I asked him about that moment and how it made him feel here is what he had to say:

TREY: "It made me feel great, Drakes my brother so he’s going to say that about me. I’ll do whatever it takes to make his words and to bring his words to life."

Xilla: Do you feel like you're the number 1 R&B singer?

TREY: I feel like it takes a lot to be the number 1 R&B singer. I mean I’m the number 1 R&B singer right now. I would say that as far as right now current times hottest artist right now in the moment, but I think it takes a lot of consistency it takes longevity and a lot more than what I’ve done in the past year... I’m not the greatest right now, I will say that, but I will be.

Trey has taken advantage of the changes made in the industry and he is well on his way to becoming one of the heavy weights in the game. Trey has used Twitter, Ustream & blogs to connect with his fans in a way many other's cant, and humbly he knows he couldn't have done that 2 or 3 years ago he explained to me.

He even has a song dedicated to twitter called "LOL Smiley Face" I asked him what's the wildest twitpic he received

TREY "Man, I got a picture that’s so crazy! This girl was in the tub with like soap all over her. I don’t know what made her do that. She direct messaged it to me, but I can’t get with that too tough."

Speaking of twitter, he sent out a tweet saying that blogger Necole B, was his favorite bitchie, along w/ a picture of the two of them hugged up. I asked him why is Necole his favorite bitchie.

TREY: "She’s a good girl, I actually remember Necole from when she was an intern at radio in Detroit. I used to come through and she used to be just this nice little girl. We were both at the beginning of our career and she’d bring water in for whoever needed water or do whatever the jock needed to do, and just to see her blossom and see the growth within myself . We have a good friendship and it’s nothing more than that."

Xilla: Why do you think everyone keeps trying to pair the two of you up?

TREY: "Because that’s what the entertainment business thrives off and that’s what blogs are made of, controversy and rumors. So of course that’s going to happen when there are two successful people of the opposite sex pictured together, but it is what it is, this is the game we play so I understand the rules and I just make sure I tell the truth."

We even spoke on R Kelly saying “If you’re a true king, you don’t get into challenges…you get to a status in life where you don’t ever have to throw another punch. What is an elephant supposed to do when an ant or a fly lands on you?"

Trey: "At this point I feel like R Kelly knows if he was to step in that arena with me he couldn’t PLAY with me as far as lyrically, word play or metaphorically in that arena after the way I came on death of Kellz. Kellz is older he’s an old man."

Trey Songz is poised, polished, and perfectly positioned to make this comment about R. Kelly. I do not believe that R. Kelly would be capable of matching Trey's lyrical or vocal abilities. Trey also raps very well--a talent R. Kelly so many times wished he had. I think Trey would out-word and out-wit R. Kelly.

I think Trey can give R kelly a run for his money. I'm not saying Trey will win cuz, lets face it r kelly is the best but he would hold his own.

Kellz has had good music since he came out and lasted longer than most male r&b singers so he gets respect. Not only he has had mad hits he has wrote songs for big singers including MJ. Who does trey think he is?? He is not even on kellz level.

Don't get me wrong...I have much love for Trey and his grind. Vocally and Lyrically he can go as for as the R&B game....HOWEVER, speaking on Kelly like that is str8 up STUPID....all I have to say is 12-Play...What was Trey's first album....did he have a hit...I Believe I can Fly or I'm Your Angel..for Celine Dion....hell, I Look To You for Whitney Houston...you know what ...Why are we really entertaining this f*ckery Trey Songz is talking about...it has publicity stunt written all over it...**passing Trey Songz a chair** HAVE A SEAT AND STFU!

Uh everybody need to stop with all the bad talk on Trey Songz, because he is correct about R. Kelly, R. Kelly need to stop trying to appeal to the generation today which I dont think he should be doing that!!!And as far as the battle, which battle? because I honestly do not think R. Kelly can spit out lyrics as if he was to rap, get real people. He could possibly out sing him but thats about it, and Im sorry to the R. Kelly fans but you know its not right the music he tries to put out today

TREY SONGZ IS A GREAT PEFORMER I'VE BEEN A FAN OF HIS SINCE HIS FIRST CD.I HAVE ALL HIS CDS,BUT I DONT THINK HE SHOULD'VE DISSED R KELLY.MAYBE HE'S LETTING THE ATTENTION GET HIM A LITTLE COCKY.HE'S NOT EVEN IN THE SAME BALL PARK AS R KELLY. I THINK HE WOULD'VE SAID RKELLY MUSIC INSPIRED HIM INSTEAD OF PUTTING HIM DOWN, RKELLY HAS THE REPUTATION OF PUTTIN OUT GOOD MUSIC AND HE'S SOLD MILLIONS OF ALBUMS. - Trey has said that Kellz music has inspired him. D.O.A. (Death of Kellz) was not a dis record. He said he was just pointing out that Kellz is trying to keep up with all the young ppl that has made auto tune popular again. Trey also said that he miss the old music that he made and Kellz need to get back to that kind of music. As far as Treys comments, he's just being real and ppl are too sensitive these days. Trey Songz is the best RnB singer we have right now and as long as he continues to put out great music I will always be a fan.

I love trey, ive been riding with him since 05, but he aint going to get nowhere dissing a legend such as kellz...kellz will kill him in any battle.. I just hope he doesnt let all this recent fame, get to his head and changes...somebody in his camp, betta let him know
