*The abusive parent who psychologically scarred Michael Jackson during life keeps finding new ways to exploit his famous son after his death.  You’ll recall that two days after Michael died, his infamous father, Joseph Jackson, was at the BET Awards promoting his new record label.  He shed no tears on the red carpet.  Neither did he share any warm, heartfelt memories of his son (does he have any?).  Joe Jackson went to BET’s memorial tribute to Michael trying to get paid!  Now, Papa Joe is inviting Michael’s fans to Las Vegas for a “VIP” event around the upcoming music documentary, “This Is It.”  Along with the movie you’ll get to have dinner with Joe then go clubbing with him at the Palms resort.  All this for a mere $3,000!

But why would a true Michael Jackson fan spend money to hang with Joe Jackson?  Michael didn’t like his dad – he was afraid of him because of the deep pain that Joseph had caused.  Michael told Oprah in 1993 and Martin Bashir in 2003 about the verbal, emotional and physical abuse Joseph inflicted on him.  That’s why, when Michael became a solo artist, he fired Joe as his manager.  That’s why Michael made his mother the sole guardian of his three kids and that’s why Michael didn’t leave his daddy a dime in his will.

If anyone decides to spend three-grand to kick it with Papa Joe in Vegas that’s their business.  But don’t delude yourself.  Michael achieved most of his greatness inspire of not because of his dad.  So, getting close to Joseph Jackson will not bring you closer to the magic that was Michael Jackson.  It will, however, line the pockets of a parent whose primary interest appears to be making a fast buck!
