  • Slim shady?????? Enough said.
  • em last album was not poppin i got all nas albums yes real ones no limewire and shout out to lime wire where i download and listen if its good im a buy it
  • after listening to Reasonable Doubt again, Illmatic and a bunch of Eminem, it really is a close call between Nas, Eminem and Jay-Z
  • I am a huge Jay-Z fan, but after spending much time listening to a lot of Hip Hop the past five years (I am a techno DJ with a House music background), I must admit that Nas is a better MC than Jay-Z even with respect to lyrical content. "Moment of Clarity" is one of my favorite Hov tracks and all you Hip Hop heads should realize that this one particular track was produced by Eminem. Now, when I consider who is the best MC alive... I have to agree... It is Eminem. Can't remember the last Eminem track where he is spitting about what he owns or the amount of money he makes. Lastly, it is Eminem who brought 50 into working with the best producers in the game, -> himself and Dr. Dre... Anyone that knows me will realize that I love Rocafella music because those hits got me through a rough time in my life, but when I step back and listen to the Hip Hop I own, there are a lot of Eminem flows and hits that are just timeless
  • These lists are always tough because they are by nature subjective. I agree that there would not be half as much noise about this decision if Em wasn't white, but I also agree he has been out of the game for quite a while. But here is the real question, just because he hasn't put anything out lately does that change how good the stuff is that he DID put out? The list was not "Best Rapper Alive (Who put out an album this year)". Real art takes time, I mean if Em was still putting out a new album every 11 months they'd start to sound as bad as the last 3 that Jay-z put out. HA!

Oh yeah, and for the record any list of the best rappers that doesn't include Immortal Technique is an incomplete list.
  • eminem isnt bad but i dont know about the best over nas ludacris j its a tough call
  • One day somebody is gonig to have to explain to me what exactly makes MNM so "special" because I don't get it. Never have.
  • Best rapper alive what hell is Vibe smoking??? Eminem by far is one of the nicest meaning he get's put in to a different category that very few rappers can get put in but the best rapper alive no way. And for the record as far as lil wayne is concerned there is a difference between lyricism and flow. Waye has flow and that's just about all he's got!
    • I love how you put this whole wayne love fest into a clear simple perspective!! Weezy has a great flow, but when you break down what he is really saying it isn't much!! Eminem on the other had has a great flow and his lyrical content is crazy!! I wouldn't go as far as calling em the greatest rapper alive, because that will always be open for debate, but I will say that Lil Wayne is not the best rapper alive either!!
    • Okay, so what yall saying is that it's about content AND execution - lyric and how they're delivered. That's exactly why I've never understood the MNM fascination. I could never even focus on the content of his lyrics because the mere sound (pitch/tone) of his voice is like nails across a chalk board and for me, that don't flow.
    • His voice is a little annoying, but what your asking, is the point that a lot of people don't get!! To be considered a great emcee, you should have a sound all your own, a delivery that draws people in, and the content of your lyrics or your "wordplay" should be something that makes people want to rewind that back and ask what he just say??!! Wayne has all three, but sometimes his lyrics make me ask what did he just say? Not because he said something dope, but because it really made no sense at all!!
    • Hmmmmm. Okay. I'll defer to the opinions of you all who are clearly much more up on things than I am. I still ain't bout to buy no MNM tracks though. LOL.
  • Sorry, nobody who's last album came out 4 years ago (and it wasnt even really that good IMO) can be called the best rapper alive.

When was the last time Eminem came out with a hot song, or dropped a hot freestyle?

    Dont worry...... I'll wait.
    • what are you people talking about it?? This man is clearly the best rapper alive. He has come out with something recently. The Re-Up. As a matter of fact, he doesn't need to come out with anything to be considered the best out there because every last one of his albums solidifies that his the one of the best lyricists out here. He showed up Jay-Z on his own ish Renegade, I thought it was on his album! The only reason why no one wants to give him the credit and respect that he deserves is because he's a White Boy. If he wasn't, there would be no beef with him having that top spot. I mean there are people saying that Nas and Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Andre 3000, and of course Jay Z should have that top spot. But in reality, when you are talking about lyrical skills and not just album dropping, and radio play, you can't help but know that this dude got it, Hands Down!!! I mean, if it were me and I wasn't get the props I deserved because of my skin color, I'd say f it too and leave the game alone for a bit.
    • Renegade was SEVEN YEARS AGO. The Re-Up was a compilation album... not an Eminem album. and "Encore" was wack. Don't tell me you dont remember the songs on that album "Big Weenie"..."Ass Like That".... Those songs were 1000% wacksauce. The last great song Eminem had was called "When I'm Gone" .. and that was like 2 years ago.
    • That is true Sportaphile!! I'll admit em did fall off a little bit. But now he's had plenty of time to recollect his thoughts and, really focus on the music! I just hope eminem and all the other true emcees dropping albums next year, can finally put an end to all of this crap we was forced to listen to this year!!
