Philly Rap Is On the Rise

Is Philly in the midst of a comeback? The city of brotherly love has given us such great emcees as Beanie Sigel, Cassidy, Freeway, and The Roots' Black Thought. It has been in a bit of a lull since the fall of Roc-A-Fella, but it seems like Philly is back with a vengeance this year. Battle rappers such as Hollow Man and Reed Dollaz have been holding it down for the underground for a while now, but it seems like emcees like Meek Mill and Young Chris could finally bring the Philly sound back to mainstream prominence.
