I was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease and began the regiment of peritoneal dialysis at 30 years old. I experienced frustration because my mind would tell me one thing, but due to the illness, my body just could not respond. I remember frequent vomiting, cramping in my legs, arms, hands and rib cage, headaches, and general body weakness. Often I would sleep for hours during the day and there was a period when my bed was my best friend. There were also many nights of insomnia where I had to pray myself asleep quoting Psalms 4:8.
