It seems like we have another dispute on the horizon, this one not so beefy. Mos Def recently visited the Angie Martinez show over at Hot 97.1, to talk about his new album, Ecstatic, and his rant in April calling out Lil Wayne and Jay-Z for a prospective lyrical battle.
In case you missed it, Mos Def was filmed talking smack and challenging Jay-Z and Lil Wayne to a head-to-head rap battle to determine and refute their standing titles as "The Greatest Rapper Alive". The challenge was heard and talked about in close quarters of Hip-Hop with people trying to make out just why Mos would come out of pocket. His rant went a little something like this,
You really think that Jay and Weezy can beat me," Mos asked in a video. "It will never happen. None of them. Whoever. Listen, n*ggas I like, I love Freeway, but come get the money if you think you can. [Beanie Sigel], I love him....[Andre 3000] ,whatever, I'm taking the money back to Brooklyn. I'm taking the money back to Brooklyn. Jay is the best out. I'm taking the ring and I'm taking the belt right back.
What is Mos Def's explanation for the rant?....
