  • Derrion Albert Murder

OK, OK, OK!!! I Have read the blogs and seen the video on Derrion Albert Murder and the truth is, the beat goes on we all have something to say we all know that this has to stop but the question is how? this is too big of a problem for one person or group or goverment to fight no one can be all places at all times but we all can handle our part of the world, but first we have to take control of our young people, remember when they all were babies and we had so much hope for their lives, what the hell happen ,well life happen the day to day life happen and we have failed our young people we are asking them to grow up too soon they are not ready to deal with this world. They don't have the tools they need to win. They need our help. Men I'm talking to you not the boys who trying to be Men but the real Men you know who you are, we all know that a women can raise a boy but it take a man to take that boy to manhood. It's our job to get that boy and talk to him and tell him the real deal about who he is and what he has to do to be a man, you know we all had that talk with that older man we didn't always like it but we had to hear it, brothers how many boys have you talked to how many young girls have you talk with about how to be a women and not let that boy disrespect Her. family we need to get to work the job is not over when they say I'm grown it has only begun join me in the fight we are fighting for their lifes go to theurbanalley.net and sign the declaration and be a part of the I Am My Brothers Keeper and lets get to work.

  • What happened to the Million Man march Money? HUH
  • Sorry - my faith in the words of men is gone. This is the same condolence laced rhetoric have heard year after year. The problem is the exultation of drug culture in our communities. The influx on narcotics changed the black family paradigm -The Older generation became afraid of the younger generation or fell victim to substance abuse. With the removal of a generation or two we not only lost knowledge we also lost the common sense imprint/impression that can only be past down from parent to child.
We glorify this ignorance in our music we degrade and demean each other. This change we need will only come when the men and women of our community decide that even in the face of bodily harm we will do what is necessary by any means necessary to ensure the prosperity of - self, family, friends, community, country and then the world in that order. Religion can't save you but the creator can.
    • Drugs were never the primary problem, it was institutionalized racism in law enforcement and the criminal justice system.

In New York City, the Rockafeller drugs laws have only recently been overturned. There should never have been mandatory minimum sentences imposed for crack cocaine users and dealers while powdered cocaine was prosecuted less vindictively.

The source of the problem is the vile mistreatment of petty criminals in prisons. The hate on the streets is coming from inside the prison walls. Petty drug offenses should not be used as a carte blanch justification for destroying families and fortunes.

I know this because two members of my family have spent years in prison for marijuana. It was not good for my family and it contributed to fear and violence in my community. In the case of my family, it was not racially motivated drug persecution, it was culture-war.

The secondary source of fear and danger in the streets comes from the brutality inflicted on and by our military personnel. War abroad yields hardened veterans returning, and treated with disregard by society.

How many gangs, black, white and spanish, will become more dangerous and well-armed as a result of new members coming home from the military?

Regarding gangs is that they're never going away. They can reduce their violence, but there will never be a day when gangs don't exist. Therefore, concerned citizens and officials can only appeal to gang leaders to be just and to prefer non-violence whenever possible.

The reason gangs will not cease to exist is because people will always form these groups based on identification. It's an ancient social phenomenon which cannot be stopped, and it is not even desirable that it should be stopped. Gangsters must improve themselves, but they'll never cease to identify with each other.
    • wrong!..Drugs and money are the major issue in the hoods..they demand respect without being respectful..they sell drugs for money, shoot and kill for respect and territory..and when sh*t hits the fan on an innocent person they want justice..and that's why the cops dont even bother going in neighborhoods to protect and serve there because they are seen as the enemy..so how do u solve this issue?... only the people living in those neighborhoods can solve this issue, with support from the state and local enforcement things can change..but what keeps this from happening..INTIMIDATION FROM HOODLUMS THAT CLAIM TO BE HARD WHEN IN FACT THEY HAVE NO EDUCATION OR RESPECT FOR ANYTHING BUT THEMSELVES.. REALTALK
  • "children deserve safe passage to school." We also deserve the same opportunity as all other children its time to teach our children to love, look out for and respect one another. The white man teach their children to respect and compete against one another but stick together in order to bring us down. Why can't we do the same.
  • why are is everyone making a big deal about this? like they really care. i bet you they will for get all about this like the shawn bell thing that everyone was so upset about. why cant we always be involved in our communities. not only when somthing bad happens. we as black ppl need to take a stand. (not only when something gets on the news)
  • Its going to take entire communities to save our children from the rage, ignorance and destruction of Life we now see.
  • "children deserve safe passage to school." ...

Indeed and to be safe at school too. There are so many young men like Derrion who love to study and do well if only they had the opportunity to do so. Lets create these opportunity for kids.

  • I salute the Brother Minister for his courageous actions each time the black community is in peril. Much love sir..
