I AM TRINA. YESTERDAY WAS WORLD AIDS DAY. HIV/AIDS IS THE #1 KILLER OF AFRICAN AMERICAN AND LATINA WOMEN IN MY AGE GROUP. PLEASE GET TESTED, YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT

I lost a very close friend of mine to HIV/Aids and the thought of seeing someone in so much pain is heartbreaking!     I was there with them until the very end and as much as it hurts it gave me more knowledge on how serious this disease is, and how it is affecting our people each and every day. This disease doesn't care about race or gender it’s a deadly disease that's killing our youth and our country! We need to be responsible for our actions and help encourage our kids to wrap it up and get tested

World Aids Day means a lot to me for a number of reasons most importantly the fact that statistics have proven that AIDS is the #1 disease which affects the African American community. The disease is something that needs to be brought to the “forefront” around the world within all cultures, ethnicities and genders; AIDS is a real issue that cannot & should not be “overlooked”

With the appropriate use of informing ourselves, media involvement and sticking together we can be BIGGER than this atrocious disease that is killing so many of our loved ones near and far. As a celebrity with a voice, I wanted to take the time out today and encourage everyone to GO OUT, GET TESTED and become aware of your STATUS.

I would also like to add, that a great DEAL, of individuals feel like they are beyond contracting the disease, but I really need everyone to understand the disease is very REAL, and the only way to know your status is to go out and get tested! Take a stand for not only your physical health, but to also put your mind at ease.

DO YOUR PART. IT'S SO IMPORTANT FOR ALL OF YOU TO GO OUT AND KNOW YOUR STATUS!

You can also learn about about AIDS, by doing these simple things:

·         Go to your local library or online to research statistics

·         Volunteering at your local health clinic

INCARCERATING PEOPLE "FOR PROFIT" IS IN A WORD....WRONG!

Even if one does not ask or pretends not to see the rope and the flashing red flag draped around the philosophical question standing solemnly at attention in the middle of the room, it remains apparent that the mere presence of a private “for profit” driven prison business in our country undermines the U.S Constitution and subsequently the credibility of the American criminal justice system. In fact, until all private prisons in America have been abolished and outlawed, “the promise” of fairness and justice at every level of this country’s judicial system will remain unattainable. We must restore the principles and the vacant promise of our judicial system. Our government cannot continue to "job-out" its obligation and neglect its duty to the individuals confined in the correctional and rehabilitation facilities throughout this nation, nor can it ignore the will of the people that it was designed to serve and protect. There is urgent need for the good people of this country to emerge from the shadows of indifference, apathy, cynicism, fear, and those other dark places that we migrate to when we are overwhelmed by frustration and the loss of hope.

My hope is that you will support the National Public Service Council to Abolish Private Prisons (NPSCTAPP) with a show of solidarity by signing "The Single Voice Petition"

I got tested twice. After getting the "Marion Berry Special" from some old ho, I was paranoid and had to be alone. Got tested, breathed a sigh of relief, got tested again 6 months later, and I knew I was good.
