Posted June 15, 2010 by admin for Global Grind Staff

A 62-foot-tall statue of Jesus in Monroe, Ohio burned to the ground during a thunderstorm around 11:15 p.m. Monday night. Nicknamed “Touchdown Jesus” because of his raised arms, the statue stood at the evangelical Solid Rock Church in Monroe. Made of fiberglass and plastic foam, the statue quickly became one of Ohio’s most well known landmarks after it was erected in 2004.
