A Tragic History Of School Shootings In America

Posted September 28, 2010 by admin for Global Grind Staff

The lockdown of the University of Texas campus on Tuesday morning brings back memories of watching live News footage of school shootings from the past. Luckily, the only person harmed in this shooting was the gunman who took his own life. Unfortunately, shootings in the past had deadlier results.

University of Texas has another school shooting in its past that was made known to this generation by the movie 'Higher Learning.' On August 1, 1966 Charles Whiteman, an ex-marine, killed 14 people and wounded 32 others during his rampage on campus.

Three of his victims were killed inside the University's tower and ten more were killed from 29th floor observation deck. Whiteman was eventually killed by Austin Police Officer Houston McCoy. Whitman had murdered his wife and mother at their homes prior to the shootings.

Make sure you dont forget the lives lost because of school shootings.
