Posted July 20, 2009 by Global Grind Staff for Global Grind Staff

Last July, CNN introduced to the world ‘what it means to be Black in America.‘ After the first series aired, most Black folks were not impressed (See here, here, here, and on and on). Therefore, CNN has decided to bring us a part 2, called Black in America: Solutions to be aired this Wednesday! For real, Soledad?

Most of the criticism that was generated from the 2008 Black in America series was because it either put Black folks under doom and gloom circumstances, or the message was, that in order for us to "make it" in America, we had to sell-out, or be light-skinned. Yes, it’s true that these chosen, highlighted, segments are indeed a part of the Black experience, but come on now, we’re more than that. But to counter all of the negativity of the first series, Black in America II will focus on "today’s pioneers" and "tomorrow’s leaders", you know, people that are trying to do good in the hood.
