As I watched the protestors in the news I have never been more embarassed to be an American. Do we really live in country that no longer wants to take care of the least among us? What happened to give us your poor, sick, etc? The bible says it is when you give to least of his people that you truly give to God. I was sitting in my cafeteria when I over heard a conversation where a man was saying why should he have to pay for health care? The most simple answer is we all should pay! Each and every one of us has a vested interest in improving our health care system. Regardless of the cost. I have heard many say they don't support health care reform because it costs too much. What about the cost of not having health care reform? Now that is a price we should all be up in arms about. But why are so many quick to complain yet unwilling to put their money where their mouth is! Still many feel that as long as they have health insurance that the issue is someone else's problem. Wrong! The rise in health care costs are crushing the financial stability american families, businesses, and the goverment. Families and individuals are being forced into bankruptcy due to medical expenses, our elderly are being forced to choose which medications to fill, businesses are no longer able to afford to provide health insurance, and many state funded hospitals are being drained by unnecessary emergency room visits. When I watch the protestors I wonder where do these people live that they aren't having these same issues or don't know someone effected by the health care debate. What price is too great to ensure that any American who needs care has access to it? There is difference between not wanting to pay for something and not being able to afford something. There are so many people struggling right now in this country without health insurance. I am mother of two who is struggling under the weight of this economy and yet I'm still willing to pay towards health care for everyone. People whine and cry about taxes but the reality is WE HAVE TAXABLE PROBLEMS in this country right now! Ensuring health care for every American is not a political issue. Where is the voices of the millions of Americans who desperately needs health care reform. What about the single mothers, children, elderly, unemployed, self employed, and students who are holding their breath hoping that the noise of the protestors isn't so loud that our elected officials forget who this fight is about. If you are reading this take a moment and think about your communities and families member who need health care reform. Don't be silent write your representatives and remind them why we need health care reform. Lastly the election of President Obama was the result of mobilization of people standing up for change. As our elected officials return home educate yourself to those who don't stand with you on this health care debate.
