  • YES..! 80YS OLD BEATING BY THIS COP DEAD WRONG MY SUDDEN REACTION WOULD HAVE BE TO PHYSICALLY ATTACK THE FEMALE COP ALSO. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN OUR OWN PEOPLE(BLACK MEN AND WOMEN) NOT INTERJECTING AND DEFUSING THE SITUATION BEFORE THE COPS(WHITE)ARE CALLED IN TO HANDLE THE ISSUE....WE MUST CORRECT OURSELVES, AND STOP ALLOWING THOSE WHOM DON'T GIVE A sh*t ABUT US TO PUT THE OUTCOME UP FOR GRABS WHICH ONLY RESULTS IN OUR DEMISE...
  • Im so sick of the police thinking they can just do what they want! This is ridiculous! They are so heartless! If that was their mother, they would have the US Army on their sides.. but when it comes to someone else's mother, son , brother, daddy , mother cousin- they dont care! Im sooo sick of it! It's ridiculous when the people that are suppose to keep us safe are the one's commiting the violence.. This needs to be stopped!
  • what ever did happen to plain old common sense...forget your police training, killer instinct, and possibly racists views...and use your head. body slamming a weak, frail and harmless old woman is incomprehensible. This police acted STUPIDLY, and I'm not retracting my comments.
  • This absolutely breaks my heart. I just don't believe it would have played out the same way if this senior citizen had been white.
  • Yes...alas...my hometown...Columbus, Ohio... (for those not familiar) Whitehall is a burb.

I read a lot of the comments and it starts out dealing with the video then goes left into something really ugly between the posters...but not once did I read someone make a post regarding the quality of the video captured!...the video SUCKED at the moment that was MOST important!

I would like to see the outcome of this "trial" because there prob will be one. I think you would need to see a replay of a QUALITY piece of footage to be able to make a COMPLETE judgement...although, I do believe that it could have been handled WAY better...they could have waited her out...its not like she could have run after anybody in "28 Days Later" style at any point in time even if she was functioning under a demented state. My Grandmother had dementia when she was in her 90's and in the early stages she would swing on you in a minute, but because of her feeble state you could catch her off guard and restrain her...with resistance though mind you...if she ever had a knife I wouldn't have come at MY grandmother... I'd get shanked and she wouldn't even realize what she did 'til she snapped out of it.

I think to that the female cop felt some serious remorse and fear behind her choice of actions...not sure if because of the harm done to the old woman, the angry mob with imaginary pitch forks or the guy yelling how he had video of it and was gonna put it on the news. I really wonder too what the male cop was thinking...he HAD to "act" as though what she did was warranted whether it was or not.

  • this is messed up. make sure the family has this video for court. these cops need to be taken off the force
  • Well seeing patients breaking down is scary, only because it makes you realize how fragile life is.
  • If you live in a community where hospitals the major employers, seeing elderly people with dementia, mental health patients having breakdowns, or diabetics having a meltdown is nothing new and nothing scary. The police did the worst thing possible. They should have called the EMTs first. It is possible she was ill.
  • I can't watch this. I am tired of our brothers, sisters, and children being senselessly abused by policy overseers(police officers). This behavior is highly unacceptable. We must put an end to this culture of corruption. It is our tax payer dollar that feeds these people and their families. This is an 80 year old woman with a knife. A knife. Are you kidding me? An injustice ANYWHERE is a threat to justice EVERYWHERE. People we need to wake up. This past year alone has seen enough evidence of police brutality to warrant an intimate unbiased probe of "law enforcement" policies across the country. My main concern is that this may happen to my mother or my children. Unacceptable behavior is unacceptable behavior regardless of who the culprit is. But what is this woman's children or grandchildren supposed to do. Just let this ride. What happens when people retaliate. What am I honestly expected to teach my children about police. How do i keep my community from turning into cop killers? Let's come up with some answers please. Future generations are depending on us. And for everyone who thinks these are isolated events THINK AGAIN.
  • she was wrong in so many ways, she did not have to body salm an 80 year old woman with a steak knife. the little woman was walking a way from her. she could have grab the little womans hand and put it behind her back. you know god don't like ugly. what you do to other people will come back on you. this lady was not a threat to her are anyone else.
    • Ur an idiot. She was a danger...did u miss the knife. Probably, u were too busy agreeing with the guy videotaping the crap. Unstable, elderly with a knife, and assalted some kids with her cane. She was asked twice to drop the knife, she didn't...concrete kiss. She cut herself out of the seatbelt with the steak knife that her supposed caring daughter left there. Shows how disfunctional the family is. For all the people saying it could have been handled diff. or they would have done something else. The crowd could have stopped her well before the incident with the cop. Oh or her daughter who locked her old ass in the car in the first place. All you people know how to do is blame a cop for stepping in.
    • Who are u to think that what that female cop did was not in the wrong. she was wrong on so many levels first of all like one of the comments made early she should have took her hands and put them behind her back not slam her on the concrete ground and then made her head bleed. That was very uncaused for whether the elderly woman was black or white the color doesn't make a difference she could've handled that situation better than what she did.
  • I grew up in a very segregated community, but as I began to explore the world, I found that there are good and bad people in every race. The fragile old lady walked away from the officer, where was the threat? All the officer had to do was allow a trained officer come from behind and take the knife, without busting her skull wide open. THE PEOPLE WHO ARE GOING TO MAKE THIS COUNTRY BETTER ARE THOSE WHO ARE WILLING TO ADMIT WHEN WE ARE WRONG, NO MATTER WHAT COLOR WE ARE!!!!!! And just for the record, their are millions of African American people who work every day and don't rob people, nor do they live a crime ridden life. Thank God for video cameras and camera phones, the camera tells what some never would, the truth!

  • If someone busted your mom's head wide open to take a steak knife away, that was supposed to be a trained officer what would you think then?

I am African American and have recently had the pleasure of meeting some decent cops in Ga that were white, it was surprising because of all the bad cops that are out there and cover ups that have been allowed for as long as cops have been in existence. You can no longer deny it, video cameras are every where. I wonder if that cop would have been so attentive if their were no cameras and no witnesses? I taught at a school for several months and heard from students who said their friends were shot on the streets and the cops and paramedics sat there and let the person bleed out and die on the street. No matter how you try to deny it, this was excessive force. I do believe that some Caucasin people are getting tired of all the hatred also, and are finally starting to admit racism does exist and does nothing for our country. I spoke to a group of cops one day about something I didn't agree with and told them there is far too much excessive force going on in our communities, immediately the African American cops tried to deny it and rebutt what I was stating, the Caucasian cop spoke up and said, yes there is far too much killing unnecessarily and excessive force in the African American community by white cops. The African American cops didn't say anything else, I guess they were trying to fit in. People who try to deny that wrong is wrong, are just alerting you that if they are given the opportunity they would have done the same thing or worse to that elderly women.
  • Everyone on this post knows you don't slam an 80 yr old fragile old women on concrete and bust her skull wide open, especially the ones who are denying it. Yes, she had a knife and obviously it needed to be taken away. If police can take down hired killers without busting their skull wide open if they want them alive, why couldn't they handle a fragile old women with a steak knife who walked away from the officer? A trained officer that knew what they were doing would have come from behind, grabbed her arm and took the knife.
    • The cop asked her twice, she did not walk away, she walked right towards her. Where was the caretaker who locked her in the car retard...off buyin some 1-ply for 9 kids and reading the globe.
  • They did their job... Someone else neglected theirs (Her Daughter). Age does not stop any threat... the police must go home the way they came to work (Unharmed).
  • Frist of all as a police officer I understand you have to be extreamly careful at all times, but looking at the video this women was no treat to anyone. There was a women and child in a shopping cart that walked just a few inches beside her. I think the officer should have grabed her arm and put it behind her back. They didn't have to slam her and if anyone thinks that that was ok to do that or full of it. The lady was walking slow as a turtle. Give me a break.
