Hey ya'll,
Today I was chillin watching TV and I saw a commercial for the Hip Hop Honors this Tuesday. MJB, Method Man, Jay-Z artist after artist were on the commercial. All I could say was Congrats to Russ and Rick and be thankful for the success Def Jam has had, and for its committment to GREATNESS - i mean DefJam poetry all that!
anyways, my husband then told me about Kanye; saying he wouldn't be attending. Now it ain't none of my business why Kanye ain't going, but earlier today I wa listening toCollege Drop Out, and it brought me back. I mean that album definitelt goes on my Top 10 albums list. No doubt. I remember listening to that album and thinking, "Damn, Kanye's a genius..." He just came with so much energy and passion at times it was too much to fathom. I mean, people always wanna criticize Kanye for being 'cocky' over-confident, or whatever, but the fact is, that if we were all as passionate and dream driven as Kanye, this world could in fact be a better place. so stop hating. And although I love Kanye, I have to say that he is an asshole. But that's okay, cause sometimes in life you need to be an asshole. ("Why you think me and Dame cool?!? We ASS-holes!") Either way, even assholes have big hearts; ironically, at times, the biggest hearts of all.
ANYWAYS!!!! The main reason I wrote this blog was because I was thinking about SOUNDTRACKS, and how I havent' really heard a good soundtrack in a while. I mean like on some black superhero sh*t. Like on some Jackie Brown, SuperFly sh*t. Kanye! Calling Kanye West! I know you got the perfect scores just bubbling in that creative mind of yours. All you need is the right movie...So I am predicting that the next number one movie soundtrack will be produced, or have tracks supplied by my man K West. i just feel it coming. how bout ya'll. Kanye to revive the movie music industry.
So anyway back to my "Kanye's not going be at the Hip Hop Honors Awards" -One, he may be grieving for things shelved, but it's all good, cause TWO: you know he's brainstorming...so as Hov says, get ya umbrella out!
It's tha ROC!
