Minister Louis Farrakhan on Sunday urged his followers not to become complacent by President Barack Obama's election and to work to repair communities.

The 76-year-old Nation of Islam leader said in a speech commemorating the 14th anniversary of the Million Man March that people shouldn't become pacified by the election of the first black president.

"This can pacify you and lull you to sleep in a dangerous time, making you think that we live in a post-racial America — when the opposite is true," he said to loud applause.

  • I would like to say that I look up to you in a big way, I would also like to say that i posted a comment on the Farrakhan article you posted some weeks back. I went to school with Farrakhans nephew in ATL GA. and it was a great experience, I saw pictures of Farrakhan in his nephews house and it was a good look. I would like to ask you how did you get to be the person you are now very sucessful and a powerful person in our community, I would also like to know that you've read my comment and I would like for you to leave a reply please. Thank you for your time, Dominique.
    • Follower. Sheep. No sense of self. Pitiful.
  • Thanks Minister Louis Farrakhan for not being afraid to tell it like it is..I will not wait for the bus so thanks for telling the community..it's time to take ownership...10-16 checkn out
  • f*ck Farrakhan, he helped murder Malcolm X.

Only the blind are saying this is a post-racist America. Nothing has changed except the volume has gone up. This is good. Obama's victory is ours as well. His placement to the highest office in the US has brought race to the forefront of the discussion! That's what we need. We need the topic to not quietly go away but allow the racist white people to try to stop interracial marriages, or make n*gger comments on the news and whatnot. Let them show their true colors. The debate is beginning, will Blacks let them dominate the conversation just cuz they are shouting? Or will we engage them in this argument? Stand up, the black, the red and the green.
    • I agree with minister farrakhan, blacks shouldn't get relax and think that the work is over, because we have a brother in office. As for this ignorant as person, how do you know that he participated in malcom death? Its 40 plus years later and y'all still pointing the finger @ the wrong person. Try j.edgar hoover the former f.b.I. gay blade. He had a program called the co-intelplo. His plan was to destroy all pro- black organizations that was teaching unity and knowledge of self. So I don't know what color u r but if u r white, then I could expect for u to say that, but if u r a brother, well that's a got dam shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • f*ck you b*tch ass, Farrakhan is saying the truth and ur gay ass needs to shut up.
    • Ay stupide asses bitches, even Malcolm knew the NOI was gunning for him. But you lazy bitches are so quick to blame the white man for sh*t, when Blacks do wild sh*t to there own. And yeah I am black. Stupid sons of bitches. I hate ignorant Black people more than ignant white ass bitches. Cuz you fucks should know better. But what can I expect from a couple of dumb asses that listen to rappers like Lil Wayne.
    • U sound like U R lacking in $$$...Bills due etc...stop pointing fingers Charles get your $$$ up guy..Weezy is so paid dude I know U wish U were a Libra..U got to blame someone Malcolm got himself n a jam..Farrakhan wasn't ntown put this foolishness on someone else boo...10-16 checkn out
    • b*tch shut the phukk up. u don't know sh*t about sh*t and u gonna get at this man for speaking what's in a multitude of books. Damn yall n*ggas dumb!
    • For all u dummies that watch spike lee put a movie together that really didn't have all his fact together anyway. That movie "malcom x" was partially funded by the jews so, so if u never read the secret relationships between blacks and jews I recommend it. Then u would understand how jews are able to manipulate base on the power they have over the media and radio.. so to this fool charles,f*ck off hell u maybe a black kkk.
    • That's funny, people who usually attach terms relating to money to their names are usually the broke people.

Anyway, did I say read books or watch a retarded, poorly made film by a hack director? Hey G, maybe you should read more and get your f*cking facts straight. I am a fool? Niguh I have more education than you, clearly. So don't attempt to school those who went while you hung with your buddies getting high in some piss-smelling project staircase, my niguh!
  • Its good to see hope is still alive and well in some people, But lets be honest Barry Soetoro aka Barack Obama has little to no power. Louis Farrakhan is a joke he speaks up when it conviently benefits his "foundation" he knows the real deal and instead of enlightening his brothas n sistas he sits back and watch the elite kill off his people. My advice to black folks is to load up on ya vitamins and emergency can goods and gallons of water because times of trouble are upon us. Read Matt 24 it reads like the daily news.
    • What is wrong with hope? your right President doesn't have much power but we do and that is what people dont get..put it can't be one voice it has to all of us coming together to tell the government what we want...change does not come for free, it is not going to be handed to us...That is the oroblem we are all sitting back waiting for something to happen when reality is we are waiting for..NOTHING...we have to be in this together...
    • Man! The power of spellcheck and proofreading..Can you tell that I didn't do either? LOL...Hopefully you can figure it out...
    • Jenhill I am not sitting back waiting on anything earthly, you see I left the Matrix (govt ran world) a long time ago and I only come on to the internet to give praise to other blk folks who also are outta the Matrix and who are helping others or to give a lil advice. I see that you have a fire set under you and that is a good thing I hope that you do not expect Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama to come to your rescue because my dear he won't. The only thing that I wait on for is The Messiah's return.

      *Blessings*
  • I agree that we should not be pacified, but yet inspired by it. Racism is very well alive and there will be more outward displays of it because he is President. We should continue to surpass all sterotypes and preconceived notions. We have proven we can be the best at everything, just given the opportunity. So I am proud of us a people and where we have come, but we still have a hell of a ways to go!!! Love to all my people.
  • I agree with Farrakhan that we should not be "pacified" with the election of President Obama. That means take the pacifier out of your mouth! I love my Black people because we hold on to hope; and we desperately want to see change in this country, we want equality. Our hope came with Barack Obama, but I agree with Minister Farrakhan that he is an American president, not the Black president, We cannot deny that but he is an American president, first, and if we think that he is going to save us, that isn't going to happen. What his presidency should mean is that we need to get off our asses and stand up for equality in America. We cannot wait on a celebrity (enter any celebrities name here) They may stand behind us when we start showing them that we care about ourselves but they aren't going to set it off. We have to come together Black people...We come from fighter..(think of how we got here Black people; people fought so that we could even be here, we didn't get here by people sitting on the hands). It is time to fight…it will take us, every Black person in America to stand up for our children..I know I stand up for mine. Let’s take our communities back. We can start a group on Facebook and start generating ideas and for once start talking and informing ourselves so that we can take action..If we do that Black people, oh you watch what will happen. I’m not a beggar; But I will make an exception for this; I am begging you to do this, not to show them, but to do this for our children..I'm afraid for my son, in America, and my son is only 19 months-I’m afraid because of the Black male mentality that I see; I'm afraid of racial profiling that I also see. I don't want my son to have to go through that.I often see when a teen has died...GG says I will remember his name...Well lets add to that and say I stand up for my child. I stand up for Ty'son and Netayu!!! Let's make it happen, people! I’ll wait…
