Los Angeles police gave Dennis Quaid a lucky break on Thursday morning, when he was warned against driving home after cops suspected him of drinking alcohol.

The actor was leaving Philippe restaurant in West Hollywood in the early hours of Thursday with his wife Kimberly and a friend when he jumped into the driver's seat of his SUV.

Quaid was about to speed away from the venue when a cop car pulled up alongside and ordered him to step out from behind the wheel, saving him from a possible arrest for driving under the influence.
