It looks like Mel Gibson is finally back to doing what he does best in the action thriller Edge of Darkness, coming to theaters in January 2010. This time around, Gibson stars as a detective whose daughter is murdered in front of him. At first he thinks he was the intended target, but soon discovers that his activist daughter had a lot more going on in her live than he knew about.
Edge of Darkness is directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, Goldeneye) and written by William Monahan (The Departed, Body of Lies), Australian writer Andrew Bovell and original TV script writer Troy Kennedy-Martin. The film is based upon Kennedy-Martin’s 1985 made-for-TV movie of the same name, which aired in the UK and was also directed by Martin Campbell.
Gibson’s co-stars include an array of international talent, including Canadian TV character actress Caterina Scorsone, British actor Ray Winstone (Beowulf, The Departed, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), Italian actor Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Children of Men), Canadian actor Shawn Roberts (Degrassi: The Next Generation and the upcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife), Denis O’Hare (Quarantine, Milk) and Serbia-born actress Bojana Novakovic (Drag Me to Hell).
We’ll be seeing that little devil Mel Gibson again in 2010 in the Jodie Foster-directed comedy Beaver. Martin Campbell better show and prove with Edge of Darkness to ensure everyone gets excited for his work on Green Lantern in 2011!!
