Rev, I hate to be the voice of decent, and certainly wouldn't want to be disagreeable just for the sake of arguing, but even with your clergy neck piece and earned "Rev." Prefix, looks/titles are not enough. And, the last time I checked 'wants' weren't essential to 'commissioned life'. Perhaps I misunderstood today's word of wisdom because of its haiku like appearance, but it is simply incomplete.

Work as a High School Mathematics Teacher, especially in urban-educational environments helped me come to this realization. More times than I can remember parents would enter the room; from the cluster of students that required additional support, I would emerge and almost chorus-like, my students would say what they had heard so many times before, "You look just like the students!" in unison.

I am what a Mathematician looks like, I am what a Mother looks like, I am what an Educator looks like, I am what a Scientist looks like... It seems the perfect time, as a community, for us to put superficial topics/issues in their place. What I wear, the color of my skin, how much money in my account, etc. are all superficial ways to measure how I expect to be addressed and how I address others.

There isn't much wisdom in addressing a bum one way and a perceived million-/billionaire another. Not just that, but it's down-right wrong. Outside all of that...

That is so true, the bible says the life and death are in the power of the tongue in other words what you communicate has the power to kill or give life, there are many ways to communicate and dressing is a way of communicating, communicate respect and you'll get it, communicate idiocracy and you'll be treated like an idiot.

I would have to agree with you on the sagging pants and the huge chains! Peoples make assumptions on the type of person you are by the way you dress. Always carry yourself in a manner that shows that you respect yourself so that other people can respect you too!

Absolutely! I was on my way to a gala, waiting on a couple individuals that were going to wear jeans and a t-shirt to a Gala? Also people when going to apply for a job, you may want to clean up a bit, even to grab that application. I look at how people dress lately and I really am not impressed. I can't handle the sagging jeans anymore or the huge gold chains. To me that just looks so low class. How you dress represents yourself. Have dignity and pride. And yes we all make mistakes, were not perfect, I make at least 12 a day! Thanks for the Words of Wisdom Run! Sarah
