The conference officials must be stopped. First, it was the SEC. Saturday, it was the Big Ten getting in on the act and trying to save an undefeated team. No. 8 Iowa needed a fourth-quarter comeback to beat Indiana, and it got plenty of help.
Worst among the questionable calls was the overturning of an apparent touchdown by Indiana's Terrance Turner in the third quarter. There was an official in great position who made the touchdown call, and replays indicated that Turner's right foot was in bounds, but somehow the guys in the replay saw irrefutable evidence to overturn the call.
Indiana coach Bill Lynch blew his stack, the Hoosiers missed a field goal and then collapsed, giving up 28 points in the fourth quarter and losing 42-24. Hard to blame them, when they realized the officials and their own conference were on the other sideline.
