WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Bob McDonnell, who had led in public opinion polls, won the election for Virginia governor on Tuesday, U.S. television networks projected.
His win is sure to bolster opponents of President Barack Obama as they portray the loss of Democrat Creigh Deeds as a referendum on the Democratic president's policies.
