At a antiviolence vigil and rally outside Richmond High School on Tuesday, November 3, a statement from the 15-year-old gang rape victim was read by DeAna Schlau of Community Violence Solutions: "Silence is always the wrong choice. We realize people are angry about this but let the anger cause change that is necessary to keep our children, our neighbors, and our friends safe. We thank everyone for their love, support and their ongoing prayers."
Earlier on Tuesday, November 3, Richmond Police arrested Elvis Torrentes, 21, at his Richmond home. For more on that arrest and video of him being escorted by police into the Richmond Police station, click here.
The antiviolence gathering on November 3 is the second in as many days. Religious leaders called for 100 volunteers to help at the school.
