  • what the rev. said is true we were taught the thruth hurts we can see them and hear them atack him all day in the media but no weapons of mass dissaction or no link between bin laden and sadam oh yeh they going to follow us home
  • I think that it is very important that we remember that the opinions and views of Barack Obama's pastor more than likely do not reflect the opinions and views of Barack Obama himself. To be completely honest, my own pastor has said similiar things in the pulpit. The only difference would be that Barack Obama is not a member of my church. We have to be realistic and stick to the facts in order to make an educated decition when we go to the polls in November.
  • I completely agree with Russell that they are all looking at the whole from different sides, and that they are all speaking from a place & time that is different from today. We can all acknowledge the brutal past, but we can only move forward if we heal in the present together.
  • I enjoyed reading Russell's comments on the blog.
  • The future will be very intresting..Im 24 but i was raised with the older generations mentality..Though things have dramatically changed i still believe that their lesson on life is the one to learn..We in today's world live blind to deeper issues in our society generally due to the acceptance of differences and opinions...however morals have become downplayed and ignored, issues that moved our grandparents to march or stand up for their rights have become internet blogs..wtf..my generation has a little sense left, if u reached for the knowledge but this one coming up..darn, if it 's not on bet,mtv or youtube forget about it...GOD help us.
  • Embracing the future is a good idea.
  • Listen to the ENTIRE sermen!!!
  • We take a lot of lessons from the Jewish community. They do not forget. In fact, they honor their past and chose to REMEMBER in order to keep EVERYONE educated and aware of the horrible acts against them as a people. In doing so, they #1 let the "gatekeepers" know that this will not happen again; #2 they ensure that their children know who they are and more importantly don't internalize the evils of others as their fault for being Jewish and #3 no ever forgets, so history will not repeat itself.

I don't know where Russell is coming from because if he can see what Ferrera said as not racist; I believe he's lost and he cares about is the color GREEN.
  • I totally agree with Russell Simmon's perspective, it is a generational gap, Rev. JW'S life experiences is where he draws his conclusion to express hisself they way he does, I'm a 51 yr. old which puts me in between, I love the direction in which we're headed by the generation after me, which does not mean we should forget the mistreatment, but we must move on and that means forgive, and be thankful that its the past. "ITS A NEW SEASON, ITS A NEW DAY"
  • what would be nice is if sum of the the big wigs came into the hood or wherever, and help to those who really want, check the ones who hate on it,,,,,. its sad to say that ignorance starts in sum homes. mothers hate of daughters and fathers act unconcerned,,, how do u get around that
  • I just pray that our younger generation start picking up books and study Americas's History in the past, and compare it to what is happening now in our world. They will learn so much and there has been a big change. Who cares if the world is ran by rich white people, we need to stop seeing color and money, and start praying that our country will still be here tomorrow; because at the rate that our young people are dying and killing each other(black and white), we need to start educating them. And this starts at home.
  • please break it down for them The Intellectual... help our brothers & sisters out!!!

  • We are suppose to forgive, but never forget. There is a constant reminder of the injustice that we still face today. Their is discriminaion in our laws, work force, two different justice systems, and because of so many people willing to "forget" we do not runderstand that we are still in slavery because we are not hightening our knoweledge to know how to prevent it from happening again. While their are some privelaged people in the world who has experience so called "freedom" that is nothing compaired to those of us who are discriminated against everyday.
  • Forgeting about our past is disrespecting those who have died for the rights that we experience today. Don't forget it was only 60 yrs. ago when colored people could not eat, sleep, use the restroom, attend the same school, and get the same quality education as whites. Don't forget instances like Jena 6; still exsist in the very fabric of our country. They want us to forget about all of the malicious things that were done to cleanse there souls!
