  • The problem with our culture today is that people in the 21century do not understand the flight of many black leaders. Other cultures have a history that they respect and know about. This is why other cultures succeed more then blacks. We have to acknowledge and respect our past and the people that faught for our freedon, without that past there would not be a Run DMC, nor blacks who could read, let alone, racal mingling between different culures.
  • Obama claim the Rev. Wright is his MENTOR......
Let me defind Mentor for you all.

Mentor: 1. a wise and trusted counselor or teacher.
    2. an influential senior sponsor or supporter.
Synonyms 1. adviser, master, guide, preceptor.

I think Obama views are the same as Rev. Wright...Thats his Mentor for over 20 yrs. I so Have a mentor of over 20 yrs, we have the same Views, I think he has done a great job moding and shaping me.
  • Trinity church, for many of you all that don’t know, sits in the middle of one of the economically deprived areas in Chicago. Tell those people who have been disenfranchised by lack of adequate educational funding, poor housing, low wages, and brutality on many fronts, that we live in a glorious nation of opportunity where everything is fair and even. Before we judge, we need to take several different things into consideration. That requires that we all stretch ourselves and look at life through different lenses.
  • We need to recognize that many people who repeatedly push these stories have an agenda. Throughout our history people who have told the uncomfortable truth are always put under harsh criticism because the uneducated masses enjoy their ignorance. In my estimation, any “Christian” who condemns this main is in fact a hypocrite. They need to be reminded of how Jesus was treated when he spoke of many issues that in his day were considered to be controversial. Look at our past in America and ask what happened to anyone who spoke out against injustice. Most were assassinated, figuratively or literally, and we now revere them as being heroes; but at the time they didn’t receive that type of praise.
  • I think that this is a major opportunity for many individuals to take a look inside themselves and have some internal dialogue. It is my belief that the comments weren’t untrue, they were just hard to digest. Hearing Rev. Wright being called a racist is in my opinion a convenient way to dismiss the realities that he is speaking about. Over 90% of what he said was undeniably true. Hillary Clinton has never been black or called a N$#@*$. Our system up to this point has been comprised of rich white men. Our government has been responsible for numerous acts of violence both domestically and internationally. I mean, let us truly view things in it’s proper perspective; we went to Iraq to supposedly prevent them from engineering “weapons of mass destruction”; yet to date, we are the only nation who has ever used a nuclear weapon in battle. Now the fact that I have pointed out these things would cause one to call me unpatriotic or a rebel of some sort, when every point that I made is the cold hard truth. So before we jump too quickly to dismiss his statements as hateful rhetoric, we need to analyze them and be truthful with ourselves.

  • I am no where near this PASTOR his views, words, nor comments and what he stand for is full of hate and racist. As far as Obama goes he has alot more dirt to come. No one can be a good friends for 20 yrs and don't have the same views. If you want to think that Obama pastor is right then why is Obama not standing with him, why after 20 years Obama turn his back on a friend. Obama is weak and stand for nothing............Come on be real don't come back to me with some lame excuse for Obama and his pastor.

    GO HILLARY!!!
  • i really agree with what you are saying Russell. Because we have alot of people that are racist and they really don't know why. They are on some of the things their forefathers has taught them about the world.
  • He is not racist and does not promote hatred of any race. He stated that Jesus was a member of a minority who faced powerful European opponent. He then stated that he was glad he served such a GOD. HE states the obvious about who is in power in the US.
Religious people often feel bad things happen as a punishment for wrong doing.

REVIEW ALL OF THE FACTS !!
  • I wonder if any of the people talking about rev wright's sermen, listen to the entire piece. You just might learn something.
  • Crudely speaking, as the old die, the old ways die with them. We are always progressing to a better future. I just wish the old guard would allow that to happen. We may be young (I am 28 but still a child in their eyes) but we have ideas on how we want things to be! They need to be quiet and step aside. There's no reason for 74yo man to be running for president. He's stuck in that same kind of bubble Russell Simmons described. Old black people are no better. They are ignorantly loyal to a presidential candidate who herself is delusional in regards to her own worth and contributions as she claims experience she doesn't truly have. But, the old guard is stubborn in the worst way. They refuse to open their eyes and adapt to an already changed world.
  • Nicely written piece. Peace.
  • THE FUTURE IS NOW!!!

    ARCH CITY ALL DAY
