  • Can someone explain to me why the media bleep out the word "darn" from Dr. Wright's sermon when they play it on TV and Radio? That just bugs me out! They wanted it to sink into the minds of the public that this is an evil man who is teaching our children to cuss. Listen to the curse words thay use on TV on a regular basis in most of the programming; what makes the word "darn" so bad, is it because a black man used it to refer to America, where's the crime in using that word, and why is Obama taking the heat for someone else's statements? It's not like some of his comments isn't true...get real America!!!
  • Ok so how many times does he have to RUN from his own people. NO I think what he said hit the nail on the head and instead of running from it he turned around and said here let me STAND! So to all you MEN out there think about it would you continue running or would you take a stand for what ypou believe in even when it concerns your family and values? I think if you are TRULY a MAN you would take a stand! OBAMA is shuch a MAN that he does not have to be with anyone or hang around anyone to be who he is he has such a powerful spirit that people flock to be by his side and he has told told you once that he can not help who admires him. So I say to you my brothers DONT get it twisted OBAMA is the chosen one and the struggle continues no one should know that better than the black man. I love you my brothers but you have got to keep your head UP.
  • also, i feel that everyone knows that america is run by rich white men, its not a shocker to black people. we have to play the game and act like the "man" to get ahaead. its just been said publicly by a pastor, thats the problem, when religion and politcs colide.. i feel that has a 18 year pld female, i have to make change. i go to a private college and i utilize every thing offered to me. seeing Obama speak and rev. wright all over the news has made me realize that we as a nation have to come together, whether we are black or brown. Especially, helping the youth who do not have such an advantage has me, I want to bring about that drive in all my people! i thank people like russel simmons who reach out to kids.
  • We are smarter than what the news commentaries are attempting to do with Dr. Wright's sermons. This ISN'T NEW! Why now? Fear will cause people to do anything to advance their cause. Let's just keep it real. Keep our eyes on the prize and not be distracted or sidestepped by the politricking machince. It is what it iz and will be until the end of time.
  • And thats my point homie...where is your Heart at...mine is with GOD and the devil doesnt lead my life...I HAVE HEART unlike most Americans...I don't downplay Obama because even he didn't deny his Pastor as being wrong, he stated that thats his opinion as of many other Americans with HEART....Real Americans
  • America had been challenged... Let's how WE do now!!!
  • careful whom you allow to represent you. This is telling of Obama's judgment. Especially since candidates' main ammunition in an election are the speeches they give and the funds they raise.
  • This subject's not that touchy, it's real the individuals in the world has made a major move towards growth and move started before i was born. i do think people are so into the let's fight for peace (yo who owns peace) as oppose to just being peaceful. having to fight for justice, when Justice, just right. Look at our parties debate for the great spot. bashing each other If we followed that model to continue our pursuit of happiness. I mean to be totally honest None of them are Addressing what the problem is because there are no problems. We're in a situation "we the people" has propelled and progressed America. But today we ignore it we don't acknowledge each other until there is a camera. So people are not proud any more i am proud of me and my ancestor, Some of whom are still alive. contributions to the America's continued success. An Even today Dreams come true. We live in them!

    Peep this real talk!

  • Voting from the heart?

That's a serious affliction from which TOO many of us, Americans that is, suffer.

Affairs of the heart cloud your judgment. John McCain and others believe in their hearts that we can stay in Iraq for another 100 years, if necessary. This is a blatant appeal to our hearts and emotions - targeting our fears.

MY heart beats with pride knowing that a Black man has a real opportunity to be the President of my country. I won't apologize for my race pride. It is part of who I am but it doesn't govern all that I am. My head, if I listen and use it, loudly proclaims that Sen. Obama offers much more than his complexion; he actually has a platform which speaks to my needs as an American - what I believe can put our country on the road to recovery from this clustefizzleof the last 8 years.

Unfortunately, the heart can't think things through, and it is too easily manipulated by lust, envy, greed, gluttony, fear (replaces sloth), wrath & pride.

Many ill-advised hearts have lead us onto this road to ruin (an unending, senseless war; inflation; recession; mortgage crisis; health care crisis; et al.). Isn't it time for us to start using our heads?
  • @MrTez -

I do not advocate pushing the good Reverend under a bus. In fact, I believe that he offers an invaluable voice in our community. A people with no sense of their history will have no future.

However, I do understand why Barack must distance himself from the Reverend... so that the greater message can be heard and evaluated by ALL.

  • I dont think so Gmony...his message is why there is a debate period...Everyone may think he living in the past or just cant forgive but none of you all where around during his time and witnessed none of the horrible acts we call our history..listen to your elders cause they have a better belief system than ours called "been there done that"...This is a Presidential election but trust me, everyone sitting in his church will share his feelings, believe it or not and they will vote from the heart..
  • thank you Gmony
  • Yes, the Rev. Wright's oratory is FIRE! However, I have yet to hear anything from him that wasn't true or at the very least IMplausible. BUT, this is Presidential politics we're talking about. His message has no place here. In fact, the only reason that it is top-of-mind is to discredit Obama as he tightens his grip on the nomination. Voters should be focusing on who provides the best opportunity to place our country on a better course. PERIOD.
