Rick Ross is a entertainer, and what is a entertainers job? To entertain!! His gimmick is that he was a drug lord/drug dealer/gangster before he came into the rap game.. Drugs are a funny thing, because they are a crutch for the user and the dealer.. Wouldn't going out and making 10 g's in a day with the chance of being caught, or the chance of enjoying the money excite some people? It's like gambling, but with your freedom.. It's like your life is one big roller coaster ride, one big adrenaline rush.. Its hard for most to just walk away from that.. The life of an artist is not the same.. A drug lord would make 10x what Ross makes, why would he leave that?? I personally never buy into his or any other artists gimmicks.. Ross is good at what he does, and i like his music.. But most Music is just entertainment.. Rick Ross is just a good Entertainer, nothing more nothing less..

AnthonyTaurus Couldn't have said it better!! That is what is wrong with today's hip hop fan!! Whenever you get a chance, watch Jay-Z's concert movie Blackout!! In the movie there is a scene where he is in the studio talking to a couple of dudes. One of them mentioned that he would love to rap about some real life shizzle, but he knew people wouldn't buy it, which is why he settles for writing that street shizzle, because he knew that is what everyone wants to hear!! Even Jay-Z said he "dummy-down" his flow so people would buy it!! I know we are giving Rick ross a hard time about this, but the issue is much bigger than him!! When will we stop listening to these labels telling us what we should hear, and star telling them what we want to hear!!

remember this is entertainment in the long run. once you start a lie you've got to keep it up. if he's a thug boss, he's got to play the role of a thug boss at all times.
