Science, God, and Mexicans-

Fox news always has a culprit for all things negative in America.  No jobs?  Blame the Mexicans and not the governments policies shipping jobs overseas.  Drug abuse in America?  Blame the Mexicans for making them instead of Americans dependency on it.  Swine Flu? Yes Fox news has gone as far as saying that illegal aliens from Mexico are carriers of the swine flu virus and could possibly be a bio-terrorist attack.  That's as horrible as the "all gays have aids" comments of the late 70's and 80's. Michelle Malki, conservative blogger and regular Fox News commentator said " I have blogged for years about the spread of contagious diseases from around the world into the U.S. as a result of uncontrolled immigration.  We've heard f years from reckless open border ideologues who continue to insist there's nothing to worry about.  We've heard for years that calling any attention to the dangers of allowing untold numbers of people to pass across our borders and through our other ports of entry without proper medical screening, as required of every visitor, immigrant to this country, is racist."

WOW! Yes Michelle, you are racist.  What about the Catholic Students whom are American and legal aliens from New York City, who spent Spring Break in Cancun, and brought it to Queens.  Should we also put in a call to the center of Disease Control to test all Catholics.  Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann made the best connection of all as of whose to blame, " I find it interesting that it was bak in the 1970's that the swine flu broke out then under another Democratic president Jimmy Carter. And I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it's an interesting coincidence."  To bad for Bachmann that the last outbreak of the virus was under Republican President Gerald Ford. Oooops.

In the original stimulus bill, the Democrats had included over $900 million in flu pandemic preparedness, but the Republicans worked hard to remove it as part of their new found love for fiscal responsibility. With this swine flu outbreak, President Obama is now advocating massive expansions in science funding and signing documents changing U.S. science policy. "It is about ensuring that scientific data is never distorted or concealed to serve a political agenda_and that we make scientific decisions based on facts, not ideology, " said Obama. He also stated that the day's of science taking a back seat to ideology are over and made reference to the ban on embryonic stem cell research  being overturned.
There are Evangelical groups across the country up and arms over the decision and already working on how to lobby their opposing views and implement them onto all Americans like President Bush had done.  The Constitution states that " Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion....".  What President Bush and Republican law makers did and continue to do is wrong at the least and illegal at worst for forcing their extremist religious-right beliefs on a whole society.

The Right wing, the evangelical movement, and all those who oppose science and evolution have fair freedom to do so.  But here's the kicker, if you don't believe in science and science creates the medicine that cures diseases like swine flu, cancer, Parkinson's, and sclerosis, you can't have any.  You have to pray it away.  You can't deny  and sh*t on Darwin and science and then come crawling to it's door in your desperate time of need. That's for us sinners.  The bible says " Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all you ways acknowledge HIm and He shall direct your paths." Proverb 3:5,6.  If he gives you a deadly disease, maybe it's his plan that you die.  I know it's mean and cruel, but God works in mysterious ways.

PS- Republican Governor Rick Perry of Texas appointed Don McLeroy, a creationist as the head of the Texas Board of Eduction. McLeroy is working hard to push for schools to adopt the theory that considers the "sufficiency or insufficiency" of Charles Darwin's tenet that living things have common ancestors. Basically questioning evolution. Governor Perry is now asking for 37,430 courses of anti-viral medicine.  Wait just a minute Perry, you and McLeroy have to pray first.

  • Come on, at least critique something CORRECTLY:

No jobs? Blame the Mexicans and not the governments policies shipping jobs overseas.

Partly true. It is a combination of illegal immigration and our government's tax policies on corporations that lead to job creation overseas. The bigger of the two, high tax rates on the corporations which is the 2nd highest in the world (not talking about the individual tax rates on the owners here, you should know the difference, but I can explain the difference since President Obama and the news media neglected to)

Michelle Malki(n), conservative blogger and regular Fox News commentator said " I have blogged for years about the spread of contagious diseases from around the world into the U.S. as a result of uncontrolled immigration. We've heard f(or) years from reckless open border ideologues who continue to insist there's nothing to worry about. We've heard for years that calling any attention to the dangers of allowing untold numbers of people to pass across our borders and through our other ports of entry without proper medical screening, as required of every visitor, immigrant to this country, is racist."

How is that racist? Essentially, she's saying that we should be screening people that come into this country, especially countries with lower health standards than ours, as a matter of national security. That's actually the TRUE responsibilty of the government as laid out by the Constitution, protecting the citizens of this country. Now blaming the Mexicans solely for the transmission of this virus is wrong and misleading, but you already know that.

Lastly, evolution is a theory. Period. Any true student in science would tell you that everything "proven" in science is based upon the infomation we have in the present. Evolution is as widely accepted just as the theories that the Earth was flat, or that the Earth was the center of the universe were widely accepted a few hundred years ago. In recent times, the widely ridiculed science behind cold fusion technology is now being re-examined after being shunned from the scientific community about a decade ago. What makes you think that evolution is definite? Other theories are on equal footing unless proven false.

Any questions about what I said can be researched by any doubters, but you can ask me directly and I'll let you know what's what.
  • Danielle,

You are definitely on point, Fox news twists everything. The right wing has just been making things up and just throwing lies out into the universe like it is not going to come back to them. Karma is real.
