Hello Everyone!

So today I woke up thinking about Dan Choi. I know a lot of you probably don't know who he is, so I just wanted to write a little blog to keep you all updated on things! Dan Choi  is considered a hero to many of us in the human rights movement.  Why? Not just because he went to West Point, or served a tour in Iraq, but because he is a BRAVE man who truly stands up for what he believes in, and as you all know by now, I highly admire people who like to break barriers and speak their minds!

On national television he PROUDLY told the world that he was a GAY soldier. *Standing Ovation*  But then soon after he announced that he was GAY,  the army IMMEDIATELY gave him the boot! Now keep in mind, this is a man who proudly enlisted himself in the army, possibly endangering his own life, just so that he could help protect our country and be a PROUD SOLDIER TO PROTECT AND SERVE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE! For him to get the boot just because of what gender he chooses to LOVE is absolutely RIDICULOUS to me! HORRID!  Unfortunately, he isn't the first to be discriminated against, and unless President Obama acts fast, and keeps his campaign promise to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy" in the military, he will not be the last!

Being an openly bisexual woman myself and having a lot of close gay friends, I have always HATED that policy, which pretty much tells people that in order to serve our country, you have to live in secret.  You can't openly embrace the person you love or tell others about them.  What kind of message does that send? Well, clearly its one of shame. Very shameful and quite sad.

Think about it,  this outmoded policy sends a horrible message to young people, straight or gay, that the military is trying to recruit. It tells them that the military is an intolerant place that does not value  diversity, fairness, and equality. More than 12,500 gay and lesbian soldiers have been discharged since "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" began in 1993. The soldiers were brave enough to lay their lives on the  line to protect the country they love, and for all of us here in America, but they were not good enough live openly and proudly as they are.  The message that this sends, is that the military sees no problem with discrimination- and how is that "American" exactly? This country is supposed to be all about "EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL" So they should honor that commandment!  We have come a long way, fighting for equal rights so why stop now?

So now I am looking to our superhero President to do what is right! President Obama says that he will REPEAL the DADT policy, but so far, we don't have a date as of yet.....all we have is just a campaign promise that really gave us all hope during that time that a change was coming!  We shall all be free!  I for one, trust the words of our President. I trust that he will continue to fight for our rights from within the White House walls just like he promised he would. As a matter of fact, I would like to applaud him for extending partner benefits to federal Gay employees, calling on Congress to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, meeting with Mathew Shephard's mom(the same Lady who turned away Perez Hilton for his recent anti-gay slur) about hate crimes, and repealing the HIV travelers ban...so yes, I will give Obama credit where it is due! Our guy, is on the move and I love him for it.

However, we still need a date Mr. Obama. When will you give us that date to repeal the DADT Policy and continue be the Superhero that you can be! We are here, we are queer, and its about time that the military gets used to it!!!  Discrimination is so 2000 and Late! The time is NOW!!!!!! YES WE CAN, BUT ONLY IF YOU CAN! I hope you get a chance to read this Mr. President! I know you have it in you to be one of the greatest Presidents our time!

Yours Truly,
Ms. Tila Nguyen

  • who f*cking cares. seriously.
  • I myself am a soilder, and although i am not gay or bisexual I have to agree that this is a free a country and everything that we have fought for so long would mean nothing if we arent allowing gay's the right to be public with who they are soilder or not. When you take that oath, you take the oath to protect and serve your country. You put your life on the line to serve for something that sometimes has a high price.. Freedom. Freedom to do what we want, say what we want and love who we want. Like i said i am straight but i do believe that it would be unamerican to turn our back on this issue.
  • LOL! People who are truly gay/bi are not that way because they "choose" to be! They just are! Tila says, "For him to get the boot just because of what gender he chooses to LOVE is absolutely RIDICULOUS to me!" Her heart is right, but this statement she made is what perpetuates hate against us non-heterosexuals. We did not just wake up and choose to be gay/bi! We do not choose what gender to love; we choose which person we will love, just like straight people do! The gender dynamics are already a given! I have been attracted to the same sex since I was a small boy. I have never been attracted to or even curious about a girl! I do not think it is cool or fashionable to be gay! When do heterosexuals get "Straight Pride?" LOL! So, if any of you out there are in same-sex relationships a) because you have been hurt by the opposite sex b) are just curious and/or c) think it is "cool" to be different, I implore you to get out immediately! Your actions and behavior are what is making truly gay/bi people look bad! The majority of our country already believes we are perverted and just love sex! The worst is when people who are not truly gay/bi, suddenly realize they are straight and then declare to the world they have changed!
  • GET A GRAP!!!! I JUST SAID THAT TO GET ELECTED!!! IM BRINGING US TO SOCIALISM!!! SO I KNOW I CAN HANDLE EVERYONE! CHANGE WE NEED
  • Tila, you absolutely right. I do believe Obama will make the right decision, and let gays/lesbians be free. people being discriminated for what gender they love is untollerable. everyone falls in love once in their life, and it shouldn't matter if its with the same sex or not. I have many gay/lesbian friends, and they are very close to me. I myself am Bi and im PROUD TO BE!!!! i wouldn't let anyone tell me anything different.. keep fighting for us Tila, we all believe in you and in our President :)
  • This comment board is turning into a circus.. and the haters and bigots are the clowns that didnt even read what the discussion was about just read a few comments and decided to post their opinions or eisegetical slander! Like I said before "EITHER EQUAL RIGHTS FOR EVERYBODY OR NO RIGHTS FOR ANYBODY!!! HATERS BACK THE F**K UP!" im whataboutufreak on twitter ;)
  • I too have written Mr Obama a letter because the source of this article is none other than a girl who changes her mind like she changes her gender of choice to be with sexually. Tila is also a woman who freely uses gross disturbing language for all our children to see, especially the C-nt, the - is a u for all you who are unfamiliar with her day to day talk. People have written her to stop using the C word as well as the N word (the degrading word for blacks) amongst so any other swear words. this woman switches teams depending on whats cool for the moment and claims to be someone she will never be. I have sent President Obama several articles about stuff Tila has written as well as copies of her stripping videos, porn videos and U Tube videos with her helping her fake breasts pop out for all our kids to see as well. Lets just say after what has been sent to him, I highly doubt he will take anything Tila Nygen says seriously, if all goes well he will send her a letter and ask her TO BE a BETTER Citizen and to remember what she is doing is showing our kids the wrong way to be. Talking about how great Cocaine is " one hella drug" and all the other stupid stuff she writes about will sink her once and for all! Tila now its your time to show your true colors and I have done it for you SWEETHEART- Your a pathetic excuse for a person, and believe me Mr Obama will laugh at anything you try to put in front of him, infact it won't even make it anywhere close to him, your a disgrace to our country, maybe your Vietnamese people are proud but hey TILA THEY AIN"T PART OF OUR COUNTRY, SO PLEASE JOIN THEM AND GO HOME!

I reminded and showed President Obama all of Tila's tweets on how she was going to convert to Republican and all the negative things she said about Obama in her recent tweets so his people can see that too and take it for what its worth- TILA TEQUILA is a disgrace to our Country.
    • Harsh much??? I dont agree with her on this issue, but come on!! Regardless of whatever she's done, she still has a right to stand up for her beliefs and to express her opinions to the government. I can tell by how you wrote that, that you havent sent a damn thing to Obama, but i'm sure he would read Tila's letter before some nameless snitch's. Tila We May Not Agree On DADT but we all agree on one thing, FREEDOM AND JUSTICE FOR ALL! we all just interpret that differently i guess
    • Oh dear God The children?!?! NOT THE CHILDREN! Please God no..anything BUT the children. God shut the hell up and give me a break. So she has been in playboy, so she is comfortable with her sexuality? so she has tits. What are you jealous or something? Are you one of those people who tell their kids not to swear even though i bet in a few years they will just be cursing like a sailor behind your back. Hell I know i did and do. Get over yourself. I am bisexual and PROUD. I do agree with Tila on this and the DADT policy needs to go.

      Peace.
    • And who are you to judge someone for who they are and what they believe in?
    • Joanne, Tila's career has nothing to do his her polital views or approaches. She is an American citizen just as you are. She has a right to say what she wants when she wants. It's her right as and american citizen to express herself. It's called freedom of speech. She is a person just like you and me. What you have said at the end of your statement proves what she was saying. And if you have a problem with people from other countries coming over here to live, then you need to go back to your own country as well. This land belonged to the Native Americans before your great grandfather was a twinkle in his fathers eye, and centuries before that. And Mexicans were establishes here before America. Back to my previous point, Tila is aloud to have her opinion just as you are, and she has the right to change her opinion as she pleases. Please understand, there are some behaviors I agree she should not show in public view but NOONE can do anything about it. But that doesnt make her a bad person.

And i do not mean to offend you but you are making yourself look like a pathetic excuse for a person. Please try to avoid this.

      Alexander Corvan
    • STOP THE HATE, REPEAL 8!!!

      Alexander Corvan
  • "Oh please, so not true. There are gay animals, and they arent being gay for fame or anything. Its instinct. Leonardo da vinci was gay, alexander the greay was bi. And many others. None of them did it because they thought it was cool."

Well said! She makes a good point...Catholics/Christians are completely against anyone gay correct? They say its wrong and immoral, etc, etc. But if it's so wrong, then why do they COMMEND someone who is in fact GAY? Leonardo Da Vince's works are all over Vatican City and he is revered by the church community as one of if not the greatest artist of all time and yet he was GAY. So there's a bit of hypocriticalness for you all to chew on.
    • and my dog also humps the couch too, doesnt mean i want to
    • gay. u must not kno anythin aboout christians. so if u dont know what ur talking about then dont talk
  • "read the f*cking bible tila"...

Again, for the ignorant idiots out there...this country is based on SEPARATING CHURCH AND STATE...meaning that it shouldnt matter wtf the bible says when it comes to the laws of the country. The only reason that there are laws like that are because whoever happened to be in charge at the moment thought that it would be okay to push their beliefs on the entire country. So technically, Bush for main example thought that since he didnt agree with gays/lesbians getting married (even though his own daughter is one), then everyone would have to follow his belief.
  • Tila your amazing!! Gay people are beautiful :)

    xo
  • I have a friend who's gay, and he is much more man than the straight men that I know. It's so miserable to hear that there's people that hates gays. There's nothing to say, just they are people with a poor mind, so little mind, makes me feel penny about them well, do what ?

    GROW UP!
    • "....much more than than the straight men that i know...."

what does that dumb sh*t mean? either someone is a man or they're not...there's no such thing as someone bein more man than someone else. hell it seeems like u don't expect a gay man to act like a man. more man than a str8 man? are u tryin to say bein gay automatically means they're supposed to be just like women? break that down some.
  • read the f*cking bible tila!!!!!!!! marriage is between a man and a women get the f*ck over yourself!!!!!!!!
    • Yes marriage may be between a man and a women but in the bible it never said that marriage couldn't be between a women and a women or a man and a man.
So to who ever wrote this, you get a grip and get the f*ck over yourself!
    • I'm Catholic and I say f*ck the Bible on that. Love is love. Man or woman, any individual should be able to choose who they want to marry.
    • You, sir, need to get over YOURSELF. Homosexuality and Bisexuality was around before Jesus was even born. And please do not refure to me as and anti-christ, I am a straight, happily married, christian man.
  • First thing, I must comment on this idiot's comment.

"im sorry but being Bi just means youre a slut who cant control their sexual urges. you need Jesus." -- Robert

Apparently you don't know any bisexual women. I have been a completely open bisexual woman since I was thirteen years old (I am now 28). By proven fact, over 50% of the female population of this country is openly bisexual. I guarentee in fact that at least 1 in every 5 girls you have ever dated is in fact bisexual, whether they choose to admit it to you or not. I run a perfectly normal life and am in no way a slut or addicted to sex. I have a husband and 2 beautiful daughters.

As for the whole bible thing. As someone stated earlier, this country was founded on the seperation of the Church and State. This said I agree that there should NEVER be any law anywhere that uses the Church's teachings (as wrong as they are) and the Bible as groundstones for what people in this country can and cannot do. It states in the Bible itself that no one has the right to judge anyone else, except God herself. How can anyone preach about being religious and all that if they cannot even follow the own "rules" that they're preaching about?

Tila, I commend you on taking a stand and speaking up. You're a strong and beautiful woman in a position to have her voice heard by those in this country who matter the most and you choose to use it.

To Don Choi, I commend you. You truly are one of the bravest men I've ever heard of and thank you for helping to keep this country safe. I salute you.
  • Well, I absolutely agree with Tila. I have many gay/lesbian/bisexual friends and I have no problem with them. Just because someone is different and they love their own gender doesn't make them bad people. And it's not a decision to be made, it's just built into them. It makes them who they are, so why should they have to hide who they are just because people choose not to accept them? And for anyone who's a Christian...if you believe that God doesn't love them because of this then there's something wrong with you. God loves everyone on this planet from homeless people to murderers to gays. If you were in their position you would be ridiculously upset that they are ridiculed for who they are as a person on a daily basis. They are not bad people, and if my closest friends were gay or bi, I would have no problem accepting them. Maybe everyone else should do the same.
  • the only comment i have is he did what he had to do.....im pround of the fact he is also trying to serve his country.....if people could jus be incinerated for thinking (HATE) i would aslo be left in ashes for hateing people who hate me....think about it...we can spend to much time dis in each other or jus love one another....
