**Globalgrind.com Exclusive**     A lot of people talking about what I twittered the other night…so I want to address it, now that I have had some time to do some thinking.  At 18 years, having grown up in the Mississippi Delta, I never thought my life would take me to where I am now.  All I wanted to do was make music.  All I thought I loved was music.  I would die for that motherfuckin music.  But, once I got a record deal and all these people around me trying to tell me who to be, what to do and how to do it, I realized that I wasn’t making music any more for the love.  I got into this weird place where I began making music for the money.  And I was making a lot of money…more money than I could ever imagine.  And with that money, of course, I could buy a lot of things…but to be honest, you can only drive that brand new phantom around the corner oh so many times… and when you are done driving, it really don’t mean sh*t.  I thought money was gonna bring me happiness.  And that is the farthest thing from the truth.  Money f*cks you up.

I know I might sound crazy, because a lot of you who are reading are probably like, I wish I had this ni**a’s money.  But, the truth is that money got me twisted.  All I want to do is go back to making music for the love of it.  The accolades and the awards are for everyone else.  The music is for me.  The music is my happiness.  So, of course I am struggling in my mind right now…cause I wanna get back to place where I woke up, thinking about what I was gonna write that day.  Where I went to sleep ready to dream about what I was gonna write the next day.

I know my fans.  And I know they will understand this.  This ain’t got nothing to do with y’all. Oh yeah... sorry to all my white peeps out there. I'm not racist :)   But I guess time will heal all wounds…

As long as he's happy and still playing video games and sh*t it's cool... We need to focus on these young girls with their asses and pussys all over the internet... YA DIG

  • As an older person with an 18 year old daughter, I have can only say that the creator wouldn't have placed Soulja Boy in this place if he didn't want him to have it, even if it's for a time. We must remember that NONE of this is ours...none of it. It is all ours to care for until this life is over. Prince taught us that it is just about the music and nothing else. Wake up tomorrow morning and think, what do I want to make today, then put that stuff back on YouTube, it's where the creator began to bless you so the answer must be there...peace
  • well he is right money does not make celebrities happy, and new material things eventually become old when you really dont have the love you desire in your life. For some celebs the love they desire can be in the form of a companion (i.e child, spouse, pooch) and without these comforts there is not happiness. I think we understand that Michael Jackson had his own universe and the three things that made him happy were his children besides making fans smile. To all the celebs who feel empty but are loaded ($$$$) go out and continue Mike's message of charity, volunteering and being a world leader.

Live in the now dont worry about what has happened is in the past. You set the bar thats a major achievement. My kids love you
  • datdude just crazy he a lil guy that dnt knw wat he's sayn
  • Well I'm not convinced,I think you soulja boy is very arrogant. Money doesnt make you say the wrong things, you said the comment because you meant it. Now that everyone is talking about the twitter rant now you want everybody to feel sorry for you. Most artists just continue work hard until they can have more control over their album content,Not Whine about it,the Industry didnt tell you to get on You Tube and Brag about Jewelry and Cars Soulja Boy did it because thats who he is so stop blaming it on the Money! and I may be wrong but thatz just my opinion...
  • NAW I DNT WISH I HAD ALOT OF MONEY I LIKE WHERE I AM NOW ...BT I LIK UNDER GROUND ARTIST BECAUSE THEY STRIVE TO GET A RECORD DEAL BT THEN AFTER THE GOT THE DEAL THEY DNT COME AS HARD AS THEY DID B4..BT I THINK PPL SHLD ALWAYS DO SUMTHNG B/C THEY LUV DOIN IT...
  • I started to follow soulja boy a few weeks ago on twitter and witnessed his updates. I watched a young man that had built up all of this frustration if you will. As he put words to the emotions I believe the truth came out and I salute him for not hiding it from his fans.
Soulja Boy took it upon himself to reveal the side of entertainment that these aspiring entertainers need to see. Money is not a replacement for happiness, money is not something that can overshadow that which you are truly passionate about. Money is and will forever only be something that contributes toward happiness for it is only temporary.
